It necessitated a new fender. But since the car just sits in my garage 360 days a year, I haven't felt like spending the money to get the fender painted (not to mention all the other bits on the car that need it). And I keep kidding myself into thinking that I'll flare the fenders eventually, so why bother doing body work unless it includes 2" more tire clearance.

So yeah, I'm perpetuating the stereotype that WRXs are busted ass piles owned by broke douchebags.

In Reno, you can drive 5 under the limit and still be "driving faster than everyone else". I swear I'm the only person that wants to get where I'm going... except at a stop sign. If you actually stop, there's a 50/50 shot you'll get rear-ended by the guy behind you that was just going 15 under the limit.

I've never seen as many friggin stop signs in my whole life as I have these past 8 months in Reno. Every intersection in my neighborhood is a 4 way stop...and 4 people, one at each stop sign, awkwardly taking turns starting and stopping, terrified to enter the intersection. And round-a-bouts don't alleviate the problem very much as everyone seems to be terribly confused as to which lane to be in, what "yield" means, and exactly who is supposed to be yielding. :?:

That's what I thought too. I don't have an STi but you figure turbo'd Subarus with aftermarket wheels and/or exhausts would wave back, but it's really rare. I do get waved at like once a year, but it's super rare.

Yea, people rarely wave in this town anymore. It used to happen all the time just a year ago. Now rarely. Especially when Im driving the wagon. Although since I put the new wheels on, I've had more people notice me, and actually got a couple waves today.

I saw someone in a blue RS 2.5 yesterday with SCCA stickers.. i wanted to chase him down and try bidding on his Oxygen sensor harness, but i was in route to pick up stuff from UPS.

I've noticed that less people wave back in Reno, than in Tahoe (where there are PLENTY of Subarus), i only ever wave or peace sign turboed imprezas, I also do it from my rally car but i get a much lower return rate there...

We compared my pistons with Nick's who did a tame break-in and the difference in ring seal was substantial! We both had over 2500 miles, but mine were in much better shape.

Mine that were broken in hard had very little discoloration below the first ring and nothing below the second. Nick's had substantially more below both rings. We could probably take some pics if they are still sitting in the box beside Cory's tool box.

I hear ya. Similarly, I just bought a good knock-off usb xbox 360 controller for $11 for PC gaming. There's no good way to use PS3 controllers with PC gaming. Motionjoy makes it possible, but the analogue controls perform terribly.
