education is expensive? college teaches you nothing

So I wanted to learn some actual job realted skills! But I'm not rich enough. So this is a 2 day class...what the fuck.

Prerequisites and recommendations

This course is for those who have completed Introduction to ArcGIS I If the prerequisite course is not completed, a participant should have comparable experience with ArcGIS before taking this course. The course also provides participants with the fundamental ArcGIS knowledge and experience needed to enroll in Building Geodatabases I.

ESRI Site: $1,275 (per seat) that's over $600 per day. yikes..

Wow. Considering that the educational pricing for all the required software would be less than that.......

What about a college class? Audit, maybe? We teach that stuff in our department....

I missed out on sweet job cause I did know enough about the old arcview.

If only I knew what was important while I was in college I could have made it worth it. :roll:

Aaaaaaa..........ESRI's overrated. But, since they're the only game in town......

Seriously, the ArcGIS 8/9 stuff is pretty easy to figure out, if you know anything about ArcView 3.x and ArcINFO. I was able to self-teach through it enough to do some pretty serious grid stuff. I think having the software at home and maybe auditing a class at the CC would be sufficient unless your going to manage a geodatabase or something.

Do you know how to do heads up digitizing? ArcMap9.0 or 8.3?
