Okay, I am "officially" calling the migration to vBulletin complete. I'm sure there are tons of issues, and nit picks that ya'll will have, so this is the thread to post 'em in.

For now, let's skip issues w/ the colors and graphics. I will be customizing them, but it's a long process to draw button graphics and set colors, etc. However, if there are *layout* issues, let me know!

So, let me have it!

How fast is the refresh rate so we see new threads, and not "new threads" we already read? Just curious. So far it's runnin' like clockwork, no complaints or suggestions from me at the moment.

Did you bump the session time? I noticed my new posts refresh cleared when it had been less than an hour I think. Just don't want to be in the middle of a long winded "technical" post and lose it. :)

It's pissing me off... 'cause it's set to "immediate" and it still doesn't update like the old board did.

I don't believe this board has that issue of session times b0rking long posts. If you see something like that "in the field" let me know... but on all the vB boards I frequent, I can start a post at 9am, and forget about it due to work, and finish it during lunch w/o an issue.

For those of you interested in the issues w/ the forums being properly marked as "read", here's a thread on vBulletin.com about it:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104491

Basically it's a known issue they're planning on changing for the next release. I haven't finished reading the thread myself, but I'm hoping someone's got an interrum fix, which I'll grab if available.

When you edit the title of the first post in a thread, it doesn't change the title of the thread. My Audi event in June says Stead, but I edited it to RFR and it didn't change the thread name...

You've got to ninja edit to get that to work. Or point it out to a moderator. It's because on vB titles are not the same entity as your post header/subject, and only those with permission can edit thread properties.

I fixed it, even though Dean called me a homo today.

Say....what happened to the sticky thread on SECCS window stickers? I searched "SECCS stickers" with no luck. Am I just dumber than usual today? Wait....don't answer that.

OK, can we delete our own posts, or is that not allowed anymore?

Kevin M
2005-04-25, 05:44 PM
Not if you start a thread. I think being able to delete other posts is an option though.

Wait....don't answer that. For some reason, I don't think anything pre conversion is searchable... I haven't been able to find anything in old posts either...

Scott, do we need to re-index the old posts?

The search table should have migrated over, but perhaps it didn't. I'll re-index sometime in the middle of the night soon, since it's a huge crunch on the server.

I meant, it's an option Scott can enable for the peons, I think.

I ran the re-index, but I didn't shutdown the board while it was doing it, so I'm not sure how it handles the new posts/threads that were created during the re-indexing. I think things should be fine... give searching a shot!

Yup looks like its working. I was able to find "lengthy discussions" about Accessport and Ecutek :p

"lengthy discussions"

We should put a "word cap" on threads. or users.

Why can I only see 3 threads?

Cause the default settings are now to show only threads from 'Today'

Go to your settings under user CP, under "options" look for "Default Thread Age Cut Off" and change it to whatever....

Is there an '06 event calendar?

dknv
2006-01-25, 09:29 PM
That's weird, I can see a general calendar for Jan. 06, but there's no option to jump to a 2006 month. There IS a 2006 Reno SCCA planning calendar, and I was able to add the monthly membership meeting to it...
Scott, do the other ones need to be created?

I started a callender for planning purposes, but didn't use it. One of these days I'll get them all setup so we can add all the meets and track days etc.
