Why in the hell would they give you a ticket for altered exhaust? I mean I know you're aftermarket.. but dont u just have to be under the decibel limit and be able to pass emissions?

That's what I thought also. The cop told him that it is illegal to have a altered exhaust in Nevada. I am trying to find the law, but I swore you could have a altered exhaust as long as it didn't peak higher then 98 decibals.

NRS 484.611* Mufflers: Prevention of emissions.

No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway.
***** 2.* The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.
***** (Added to NRS by 1969, 1208; A 1971, 921)

I believe it was the NHP.
Strange the NHP are usualy not such jerks. I would have bet it was Sparks or Reno PD.

state law mandates that any officer when issuing a citation MUST ALWAYS cite the specific NRS# of the violation AND print it legibly on the ticket.
if its not there, they are farked.
yes I have overturned about 4 tickets that way.
HOWEVER: I'm not sure how this apply's to the new street racing laws. But im pretty sure that if they want to call you a racer, they can pigeon hole you and then ur fucked. Unless ur lawer is better than the DA, and thats not too hard.

Phil, this thread is two years old and the primary discussion is between 2 members no longer active. :p
Cody, don't bother. Exhaust cutouts are a serious pain i the ass, and you don't really gain enough power to justify what building it and tuning two seperate maps cost.
