10/11... I missed the flip over the fish one... thought the right answer is cooler than the one I picked.

No, I'm good at answering multiple choice questions w/o knowing the material. (Especially in math... everyone knows how *terrible* I am at even basic arithmatic, yet I scored like a 720 on my Math SAT test.)

It's just a matter of recognizing which answer is the most plausible... usually by understanding the point of the test, and the point of the multiple choices. On a 3 choice test, there's usually a right answer, an absurd answer, and a too obvious answer. Tossing the absurd answer is usually easiest, then eliminating the answer that's in there to nail the person that's not paying attention is usually pretty easy.

Then you have to realize that every now and then one of the questions is a "trick" question that intentionally makes the right answer look absurd, or asks a question whos answer actually is obvious. Usually you can see those because two of the answers look like each other.

I only missed the fish question because I tossed out the boat answer as too absurd, not thinking about what it really could mean.

Except for the boat one, every right answer was my second guess.

8/11 with the boat question correct. The one about China is wrong...

Yeah, the question should have really said "If you are a guest at a Chinese meal..." because that custom is only for guests. I think the answer for their own children is much different.

(Sorry about the vagueness, I was just trying to not give away the answer).

In China and Japan its rude not to finish your rice. So, that should explain my answer. Oh, and the method that the use in China to serve food, which you should know if you've ever been to a decent chinese resturaunt, is called "family style", I think. In China, all the tables are round with a huge circular piece, usually glass, thats on the inside that rotates. You, yourself, are given a suppper super super (really) small plate to eat from which you use to pick off the food from the center piece and place it on your plate. The point to this is you only give yourself what you need, instead of our style which is you fill our huge plates to the max and leave whatever food we cant eat on the plate to be thrown away. Using the Chinese method, more food can be saved... or so they think.

So, if you went by this and left food on your little plate, I believe that would be considered extremely rude.

Right, but most people eat more then rice for a meal. As a guest you should leave a little food (except rice), otherwise you're telling the host you didn't get enough to eat.

BTW, It's nice to actually argue about Rice the food rather than Rice the culture.
