Who thinks of this stuff? I would like to meet the people who actually think they are making something cool when they come out with this stuff. That's worse then the TVs under that Corolla on Make My Ride Totally Sucky and Gay...uh I mean Pimp My Ride.
Those make me laugh-out-loud. Seriously.
On Easter you could have the Easter bunny spinning along. On Halloween - a pumpkin? A witch on a broom? Christmas - reindeer. Can you imagine the little kids in the SUV's in the next lane with their eyes popping out? It'd be hilarious!

They'll cause lots of accidents, too. :P
Driver: "Officer, it's not my fault that I rear-ended this guy! This crazy SUV with light-up wheels that said, 'for a good time, call,' and a phone number, drove by and distracted me!"
Officer: Reaches for handcuffs

Kidding aside, I think you're right. These will be illegal shortly. You can't have crazy flashing, multi-colored, lights on the outside of your car... if wiper-LEDs are illegal, there's no way these will be okay.
As it is, I think SUVs w/ TV screens in the back should be required to have limo tint on the rear window so I don't have to watch fucking Barney on the freeway.

Yeah fuck Barney. Curses to him for making me memorize all those crappy songs. I wake up in a cold sweat screaming the lyrics.

Hahahahaha wow. Imma retard. At least I'm not the only one.
Too bad you're internet is messed up, 'cause it works for me, and it's not geocities or anything.
It "red X'd" on me too, but if I paste the url into a new browser it shows up.
Is there a good way to know if an image you find on a google search is "hot linkable" (if that's the proper term)? I mean is there any way to know if you're going to post a red X beforehand? Would the Preview Post function be definitive for this?
Because it seems like once you view the pic, the browser caches it and you get the image instead of the red X, so how can you really know unless you post it and it gets viewed on another computer? I guess you could post PM it to yourself and open it in a different browser (IE: Firefox, etc.) but that just seems like too much work.
Just somthing I've always wondered and you guys seem bored and nerdy... :P

If the image is cached in your browser it will show up in preview even if the rest of us get das X.
If the image is cached in your browser it will show up in preview even if the rest of us get das X.
I know, so how can you know ahead of time?
I used a period instead of a question mark here:

oops.

I don't think that helps since I couldn't see Sperry's MChammer using your tool (shutup) until I copied and pasted its URL into a new window (which makes it visible and cached) and then using your tool (I said shutup) I could see it. How is using that tool any different than using post preview?
A1337STI
2006-03-26, 09:22 AM
the fact that you couldn't see it right away ment that it couldn't be hotlinked.
its different becuase when your web Client goes to load the image file, it will send in an http 1.1 header called REFERER which will be www.ridelaketahoe.com/alex/hotlinktest.asp and if the web server has some specific blocking method for calls with referer's that are not one of their domains it will be blocked.
if you open the image in a new window the file will be called with out a REFERER , actual http 1.1 headers look something like
HTTP/1.1
GET /images/mypictures.jpg
User-Agent: Mozilla
REferer: http://www.blahblahblah.com/
etc etc
sounds like you need to adjust your caching setting on your browser. lol i should have done that for you when i was over yesterday. lol :P set your browser to always check for a current copy. (also learn that manual cache del button)
;)
