I applied to study abroad in New Zealand about a month ago and I got a call today that said I got in. So now I have to make up my mind weather to go or not. I would be leaving in roughly 8 weeks and not be back until the middle of November. The benefit of going down there is that I would be able to snowboard and race on the FIS circuit until I come back and then have winter here again. The downside is that the wrx sits here in storage and I leave my gf probably forever, because she doesn't want to do long distance over a couple continents, which i dont blame her for.

So go, and take her with you. New Zealand would be a sweet place to be for a few months, and it's not like she has to marry you first! This is a once-in-a-lifetime type deal for both of you, really.

I've thought about that a lot. Leaving somewhere far away for something like that, but I too would be leaving my gf behind, which I'm not so sure I'd be able to do. New Zealand would be amazing, I think if there is any way you can fit her into going you should.

How old are you? If you're under 25, just go, don't worry about the girl. Since she's not interested in waiting for you for a whopping 6 months , you should just write her off and go have a good time. There will be other girlfriends... ones that care enough about you to wait for you while you take advantage of a terrific opportunity.

Tell your gf not to be such a bitch and to be happy that you got the opportunity. I would definitely go, no question in my mind it will be an awesome experience. If your gf can't be happy and supportive that you will get to travel the world for a few months, she's not worth it anyway.

You should go. If a girl can't wait a few months for you then she's nothing anyways. NZ is awesome, and you'll be unattached while you're down there so you can have all the fun you want.

I'm going abroad the next spring semester, possibly to New Zealand. I agree with everything that was said, Why wouldn't you go? Since the girl has been discussed, the WRX will seem really fast when you come back to it.

DUDE...the girl to guy ratio in NZ is 5 to 1, and if you have ever heard their accent during the big O......you wouldnt hesitate! Good Luck btw, if you go let me know, I have several acquaintances there.

Oh and one thing I wanted to mention - if your gf doesn't want to keep your relationship going for like 5 or 6 months while you're traveling abroad and racing down there, she's not that commited to you..
