View Full Version : Are RT615's directional?
They're obviously asymetrical but are they directional?
I had mine all facing the direction that looked right to me but post alignment, two look backwards to me now.

Does it have a directional or rotation arrow on the sidewall?
No it doesn't. Inside and outside is clearly labeled but no arrows.

They aren't directional. As long as they are mounted correctly you can rotate them any way you want.
That's what I've read, but doesn't it look like they're directional?

If there is no rotational arrow, then they aren't directional.

Well, no, not really. The old RT215s, RE070s, and a few other sticky summer tires that also suck in the rain are non-directional. Look at a few and you'll see the differences.
Damn, that means two were always "backward" and I had myself fooled before.

They couldn't have been on backwards before :p
In my mind, two will always be backward. ;)

Yeh, they're the same as re070s - you end up with the tread pointing in opposite directions, but the only thing you have to take into consideration is that they have a definite "outside." And they're labeled as such.
I thought it was a little odd at first, too. I imagined that since the tread was supposedly "designed" for water evacuation, having the tread going the opposite direction on one side would just screw it all up. But having driven in heavy rain on my RT615s, I can finally say that the tread doesn't matter - wet traction blows no matter what.
Alrighty, thanks guys. My brain hurts less now.

Looks like your getting ready for this weekend. It will be cool with more wagons. ;)
Yep! We'll be in the same class too. :)
Anything I need to know to run for points? Just show up by 8 on Saturday?

Closer to 7:30 if possible to get in to tech with time to walk the course.
It's definately possible since I live 3 miles from the Stead airport now. :)

Only saturday and a full second faster then me. In my own car. Oh well, :) i've got a lot of room for improvement!
It was a lot of luck and some good advice from Kevin. Not to mention your car is in a different class than mine as far as I'm concerned.
