...but probably not permanently. I think the server is back to pre-lockup condition, plus I've backed up all 18GB (!) of data we've got on the server.
Since the backup is very current, I'm going to see if I can't around to re-imaging the server this weekend. That will update our OS and all our software to the latest and greatest, and will allow me to clean up a lot of wasted disk space. I should be able to get the forums up and running pretty quickly, but uploading the gallery images and the like may take a while 'cause I'm not going to attempt it w/ the piss-poor upstream my cable modem has... I'll have to do it from work or something.
So, in the mean time, feel free to post... I'll be locking the forums when I start the re-image, pull a final database dump, then go to work on the re-imaging of everything. My goal will to have the forums back up and running ASAP. I think I'm going to see if I can't get some better gallery code (there's gotta be something better than the crap I wrote 4 years ago) that will support user uploads, resizing, and integration w/ vBulletin authentication. That way we can all use the gallery. But that will probably take some time... so expect the gallery (and pretty much everything that's not built into the forums) to be down for a while.

Damn, man. Is this running off of a co-located server somewhere?

It's not a co-location, since we don't own the hardware... but we've got our own dedicated linux box hosted by 1and1. It's not new hardware by any means (unless they've been upgrading it underneath us w/o us knowing, which is certainly a possibility because the server used to be in TX and now it appears to be in NYC), but for what we've got you'd pay around $100-$200/mo now to get.
I just need to do a full on kernel update to the thing and get a newer version of Linux running, along with all the other stuff like PHP/MySQL/Apache/etc. All the versions we're running are like 3 years old or worse!

And I was just getting ready to thank you for all your hard work on the site. Thanks for revealing you're actually a slacker first! :p

That reminds me... where's your share of the $2500 or so I've spent renting the server for the last 4 years and change? :P I'm only "lazy" 'cause I have a paying job, without which I'd have no money to pay for the server I'm lazy at maintaining!

And, we're back again...
This time, the server's been totally rebuilt! The latest vBulletin software is installed. There are a few things I still need to clean up (like some missing images and stuff from the updated themes), but for the most part, things should be working properly. I've reindexed all the tables in the DB and stuff, so we should be as fast and as streamlined as possible. All our old data (with the exception of the photo gallery) has been uploaded. I regenerated thumbnails for all attached images, so some of the busted looking images should be cleaned up.
Please let me know if you see any issues!
Sorry it took so long. I started on Saturday afternoon, but by Sat evening I came down w/ a head cold... so it was pretty slow going all day Sunday (I spent it in bed or on the couch). I was off work today, and was able to finish up.

You could just use Firefox with speel cheking built in.
You could just use Firefox with speel cheking built in.I am using FireFox... Where is Spell check? Oh, I have 1.5.0.9, and it is in 2.0... Stupid auto update checker doesn't see 2.0 as being new/available yet for some reason even when I just ran it manually.

Stickers really are in the works... just slowly. I'm trying to work out a somewhat "permanent" solution.
