Full Pillar Pods that fit the Wagon! Finally.

Well, I was doing some searches and found a company that is producing a full pillar pod for the '02 to '04 WRX Wagons. You can only get the 3-pod setup right now.

It is 44.99$ +shipping and you can add another 7.99$ to have it painted the same as the stock a-pillar.

Gauges have to be 2 1/16". Iam not sure what that comes out to in MM.

2 1/16" is 52mm IIRC... the same as your current gauges!

Ohh... I just clicked your link... the Lo-Tek pods are notoriously bad... the Sedan pods were out for a while and everyone waited for Autometer to release theirs... maybe Lo-Tek's quality's gotten better recently tho... I'd check out some reviews on NASIOC or I-Club 1st.

I did plenty of searches. I did find out they used to suck ass....but in my opinion that fairly cheap if it fixes the problem that all wagon owners have. If it sucks....oh well...back to autometer.

I would need one more gauge though. I would like the Autometer Temperature gauge. Do you know what style gauges I have now? Might be kinda hard to find. Not sure. Time to look.

Mechanical:
3351 - Trans. Temp. 140°-280°F (8 ft. tubing)
Above temperature gauges include a 1/2" NPT fitting and capillary tubing (length noted by description).

Electrical:
3357 - Transmission Temp 100°-250°F
Includes 1/8" electric sender, 3/8" & 1/2" NPT fittings. (Not Shown)

That's it, Auto-Meter Sport Comp! Definately get the electrical gauge, or you'll have a tube full of tranny fluid flowing into the cockpit.. not fun if it were to ever spring a leak.

Get full-sweep instead of 90* sweep electrical if you can, that way the gauge is a lot more useful... linear scale and higher resolution.

Autometer doesn't make full sweep electic gauges.... except for their $200 boost gauge.

All full sweep autometers are mechanical which is fine in a race car, but I'd like to keep oil and water out of the passenger compartment.

That is unless they've release a whole new line of gauges in the last year that I don't know about.

Look at link above. All electrical full-sweep. Just no water or tranny temp.

AFAIK here's the list of AutoMeter Sport-Comp 52mm Full Sweep Electrical Gauges:

15psi max Boost gauge ~$200
30pst max Boost gauge ~$200

That's it. They may have added more, but those are the only ones I remember that would be usefull in a WRX in a 52mm Sport Comp gauge.

Austin's not limiting only to Sport-Comp gauges... they have other "riced out" gauge lines that are full sweep electrical.

I just don't think this would look good in a WRX, especially one that alread has a bunch of Sport-Comp gauges:

That would be awsome Scott! I am clueless when it comes to wiring. This is going to go the the 3-gauge A-pillar Pod that I am ordering. So I will need some help. The Water-Temp gauge will go where the clock is in the center gauge pod, but I am not going to worry about that one yet.

That would be awsome Scott! I am clueless when it comes to wiring. This is going to go the the 3-gauge A-pillar Pod that I am ordering. So I will need some help. The Water-Temp gauge will go where the clock is in the center gauge pod, but I am not going to worry about that one yet.

Just for logistics sake, I'd put Boost, EGT and Oil Pressure in the A-pillar and Oil, Water, and Tranny Temps in the center pod... might as well keep the temps close together, and the more important gauges at eye level. The beauty of the wiring harnesses I made is that they're pretty much interchangeable... you can put the gauges in any order and just daisy-chain them together. The only problem is that you'll need 2 more signal lines in the harness, which means we'll either need to switch *all* the plugs to 12 pin, or the new gauges will have seperately wired signal lines.

This is a pretty cleaver idea on what to do with your stock clock if you get the gauages up top....I don't think I can do this though...
