Wow, 245/40/17s are on sale at TireRack, plus the $100 discount, and that's a set for about $500!
Too bad they don't make a 255. :(
That's pretty nice... Might have bought some if I didn't already have too many tires.

I'll be picking up my Re-01's in a 245-40/17 later today. Comes to $631 before rebate...sweet.
Should I consider some Re-01's instead of 615's?

I have autocrossed on RE-92s, RE-070s, 615s and RE-01Rs and there is no comparison, the RE-01Rs are better than all of the others (except for the RE-92s)

Nice. Do you know if they tend to run wider or less wide than 615's in the same size? I really want to get 235/40ZR17 but they're $51/tire more than 225/45ZR17 so I'll just stick to 225's I guess.

We could go pick them up at lunch together, and then grab some El Rosal.

We better include Me!
Also, no need for new tires Scott...I pax'd 3rd on two year old RE070's last event...I jsut don't want to pass them up while on sale at the rack.

Bastard! :P I need to sell all 10 of my 17X7.5's for some nice 17X8's.
I wish they'd put the 235's on sale too. :(

Well, after a session on the 615's at RFR, they're just about done. Hell, they have all of last season's autocross on 'em... not that the car got driven all that much last year... but they're certainly not going to last the season.
And, I'll need some more Sport Cups to finish out the trials season... grrr...
I'm such a biter...order placed.

Shit, if I hadn't just spent $500 on my car yesterday, I'd buy a set just because they're cheap!

Apparently they had to grow the rubber tree and manufacture the tire...took forever...didn't help that my credit card company thought somebody may have stole my card. I haven't been spending that much money.

Yep, I got an email from BofA as soon as I got back to work, they said the Tire rack transaction alerted a fraudulant purchase flag on my account, and they wanted to verify...Weird.

OKay, so I guess you're supposed to put some miles on new tires before trying to race on them, thus, I sucked at Auto-x on saturday. After I knocked the "new" off my RE 01R's, I can say that they are indeed the best street tire I've driven on ever. I am very happy with their consistency and feedback. Carry on.

Looks like I will be looking to get my set shaved before when I mount them up.
Anyone know where to do that? And what depth I should go for?
MattR

They should be shaved to 1/32

4-5/32nds is typical... I wish I had done my 255s. I'm going to wear out the shoulders long before the center of the tread.
