Kevin and I are the event chairs and hope we will have great support from the SECCS crew.

Course is still under design, mostly by Kevin, but likely elements will be:

Crossover slalom (Sat. only)
Return of the Octagon
Walls of doom
And......
Finishes that don't suck!!!

I'll only show up if someone can provide me with a co-drive... I need to run the last weekend to qualify for a trophy... which won't make a big difference to me, since I'm not gonna win anything this year, but it will mean 5 season-long competitors in SM rather than 4, which is the difference between Cory getting a 3rd place trophy and getting nothing.

So Cory, wanna let me co-drive? ;) :D

The last autoX of the season and the start of the funny season.

No more wagon for me. No more DSP Mini (after the last two events). No more ESP Camero but sounds like a return of the DSP RS Monster. Who really knows what Kevin is going to be in next year? I don't see the Riggs Camero ever coming around (they'll switch to something else).

Additionally, I opened up my fortune cookie and it read,"Next summer, you will dance to a different beat". What the hell does that mean?

Danggit!!!!, I remember the octagon from last year (it was my first autocross) when i ran Chris' RS. Drifting an AWD car, and you may wonder why I'm going to race at Fallon. That was so much fun. When David Jansen came up to me earlier this year and said he could tell I drove a racecar before because I was tossing the Camaro into the left hander by the bleachers, I shouldve seen the writing on the wall. Anyway, you guys have a blast, and I may end up showing up on Sunday if anybody wants to see the Camaro. Louie

The event is shaping up to be a lot of fun. I predict a lot of driver shenanigans and silliness based on most of the classes and positions being locked up already.

Would anybody care to pitch in by replacing me at the registration table on both mornings? I am pretty sure that course setup and whatever other crap goes on will keep me busy during morning registration, so if anybody wants to pitch in and give Nick (and possibly Carrie) a hand there, I'd really appreciate it!

Course is set! There are two distinct sides of the course... Finesse and Fast.... Should be a blast.

The course can be negotiated in the bus with the trailer on, so there should be no first gear even for Mike. :)

Due to the weather this afternoon and evening, we may have to reset/remark/rechalk some to all of the course in the AM, so any help would be appreciated starting after 7:00AM.

See you there.

Mission accomplished in my opinion. Even on my way to 13 cones in Sue's car on Saturday, I never even had a thought about wishing the course was different. Many drivers complimented us on how much fun it was (including John Evans and Randy Jones!!!) and nobody out and out said they wished it was different, although many drivers would have been happy without the Octagon. I personally didn't mind losing it, but I also didn't think it was a bad element. At least we foun d somehting other than the de rigeur sweeper down the back. It's more fun at the finish! :D

On Sunday there were about 45 people in open PAX and 10 or so in Ladies. This doesn't count the people who ran in RNP or Novice.

Wow, I did pretty good on Sunday...not so much on Sat. I know it is the novice class and the guy is still learning, but a WRX shouldnt be anywhere near a Lotus Exige....

Emily did pretty good too, all she has to do is ride with one of you guys in an STi and she cuts seconds off her time. I guess she just needs to see what lines to take and where that car can accelerate and brake.

Thanks again Dean and Kevin, both courses were a blast. Hopefully next year I will have some decent tires.

Yeah, the best thing that happened to me was running this year in a wagon with no suspension mods (well, RSB) and being under-tired. You should convince Rachel to run the Legacy or something on good but not awesome street tires (like MXs or RS2s or something) because it will make her faster.

Matt, Sunday right? (If I ran open pax on Sat., it looks like I would've been 4th, with a 38.264.)

On saturday in Vick's mini you would have been 20th, not 4th. On sunday your best run was actually in Randy's AS corvette, so the "TDSP" pax factor isn't accurate because you were switching cars. If you use the "AS" pax factor on your best time your pax time is 31.623 which puts you in 17th.

Also, I somehow held on to 6th in PAX this year, I have a feeling next year will be even tougher.

It's a long season, no reason she can't finish it in your car next year after getting incredibly instructive seat time in a softer, slower, less sticky car. But then again, I can see where I might trade a little extra skill for more seat time in your car, which is apparently really really fun to drive.

Be that as it may, I found in driving Jim's ES Miata on Sunday, that I was able to "see" the course better (due to being closer to the ground maybe?; as well as traveling through the course slower  ) - which was interesting because when I returned to grid, I was better able to analyze where I drove, and think about where I wanted to put the car closer to the cones. I think there's much merit in what you suggest Kevin.

Anyone else notice that the top 6 cars in open PAX were all on race tires for at least part of the season?

That damn street tire modifier is really ruining it for the folks on race tires, instead of dominating the region they're just trouncing it.

I know. I'm planning on getting race tires next year so that I can tumble down the PAX standings.

Finish #4 on novice is not too bad, I'm happy even I'm not a novice. I wish I have race tires but 1-2 auto-x a year not gonna do it. Good thing I'm not running in AS everybody under 49 sec. I have my roll bars on order. Next year I hope to do more PDX.

Maybe I should keep my all seasons and buy some race tires next year... too bad they are like 1200 a set for my car haha.

Street tires are more fun anyways.

You'd be better off going summer and snows than all-seasons and race tires.

Snapped a few pix right before lunch on saturday. They're not spectacular since I was shooting all the way from the fence, but they make halfway-decent action shots. :)
