View Full Version : WTB: Stock Wagon Struts (preferably blown)
I don't have the stock struts that came on my car but I figure I'll put my feelers out for a set to install Koni Inserts into if I can find them for dirt cheap. Ideally they would be worn out and real cheap since I would hack them up and put Koni Inserts in them.

Are we going through this again!? If you want struts to put inserts in, I've got that set of struts w/ GC perches that already have Konis in them. Rebuilding the Konis has got to be cheaper than buying and installing new inserts. Plus you'll have ride height adjustment and I've got like 6 sets of springs to pick from.
There's like 3 of you guys looking to do koni inserts in stock struts, buy my shit instead! Same Koni's, but as a true coilover, and it should be cheaper. At this point I'll sell 'em for any reasonable offer!
Edit: I've learned recently that the MY 02-03 spring perches are a touch wider plus they require the "washer mod" in order to use the Post-Bugeye tophats I run. That said, I really am looking for stock MY 04-07 wagon struts.

Scott's struts have no OEM-style perches (they're set up for Ground Control springs) and the spacers you need for the washer mod can be had from TiC for a good price. You'd save money this way hombre.
p.s. when did you get a wagon?

Yah, but then I have to go to stiffer springs right? I can't use the Crucials with your housings correct?

Um... what?
Oem struts: $100-200
Koni inserts: $700
Crucial springs: $300
Total: around $1200
Rebuild my konis to your specs: $400
Set of Eibach springs to your specs: $100
So, I'd have to be asking over $700 for my struts for my setup to be more expensive, and you're still getting height-adjustable coilovers. Hell, I'll sell the struts/perches for $400 at this point, that should save you $300 unless my math is was off somewhere.

You've got a decent collection of springs to offer too, don't you Scott?

True, but they're all in the 400lb/in and up range. But 2.5" ID Eibach springs in various lengths are like $100 for a set of four. you could easily pick the exact spring rate you want and rebuild the dampers specifically for that spring.
p.s. when did you get a wagon?
He's quoting me word for word from my thread (http://www.seccs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6069&highlight=stock+wagon+struts) in every post in this thread and the title. Dubya Tee Eff. :?:

I know this is a direct quote from my thead, but Sybir later pointed out that the washer mod wouldn't be necessary since the Koni inserts are made for the MY04-MY07 tophats I run in the rear.
