I have Not had my car for a year yet!
And I have dropped this much of my income into it. I think of myself as a conservative when it comes to modding compared to some people I see on i-club and the like. I had to sit down and figure this out because I thought I was spending too much on food :? and I wanted to compare my other expenses.
Payments:
383.00x8=3064 (payments since ownership)
Insurance:
2400 1 year, ouch! :x
And the large OTHER catagory:
Wheels:1500
Tires:205
SCCA dues:150
Springs:200
Shift Knob:50
Car Cleaning Equipment:100(easily for me)
CD player:279
Tint:180
Gas:ummm..nevermind
What else did i forget. a lot I bet.
Total So far(list needs editing I'm sure): $8138.00

Dizam... that actually makes me glad we have used cars for a minute. Not a car payment among them.
Ford Mustang - 100,000 miles
Mazda 626 - 128,000 miles
Jeep Cherokee - 160,000 miles
Of course, one of them breaks something else that I have to fix every week... dammit.

AHhahaahahahh! I don't even want to know where I'm at over the last 2 years for my car... but something tells me, if I didn't have mods on the WRX, it'd be paid for by now.

Close to you Tyson -
Payments 370.25$ x 12 = 4,443.00 year
Insurance x 12 = 1,440.00 year
Gas 15.00$ per week x 48 = 720.00 year
Oil Changes 30.00$ x 8 = 240.00 year
-----------
Wheels and Tires - 2 Sets - 1,375.00
'Other' Mods - Easily 1,000.00
-----------
SCCA Race Fee's = 80.00$
Drag Race Fee's = 25.00$
Meals/Beer at the meets = Who the hell knows!
-----------
So within the first year I figure near the 10,000$ mark. Ouch
+ Car washes - @$7, x 40/yr - $280
Oil changes - ($24/Mobil 1, + $20 labor/filter/disposal) x 6/yr = $264
Tire changes, rotations - ($20/tire x 4) x 4 incidents/yr - $320 --
well, get a deal going with Sid, and the price drops to less than $20/tire.

I dont bother calculating this kind of stuff.. with payments in the $600 range every month and my consistant gas use.. lol, it would be rather depressing.

Does the Jetta REQUIRE it? Or do you just do it anyway.

Yeah, because of the fact that it is a turbo charged engine.. It does require it unfortunately
