Oh, and you're dead on with you comments about course design. It will be taken into consideration for the latter July event Cory and I are doing.

Good news.

btw: I like STi's. !!!!

Where did that random post come from? hmm?

MattR 2010-06-13 09:14 PM

On the topic of today's course, this was actually a copy of a course Scott and I put together about 4 or 5 years ago ("mini-suzuka"), but it was not originally set that tight, I see that they shortened the width (Grandstands to runway) about 50' narrower that what Scott and I used to set, so the tight turns felt extremely tight...

The best way I can describe a course that's set that tight is to compare it to a competitive kayak-er trying to paddle upstream to make a gate across the river. It all felt like you had to fight hard in the opposite direction to make the turns. So this just enhanced the under steer issue on the loose surface. Also, since everyone was plowing around so much, the surface was getting torn all to hell and graveling up even more. My tires took a beating today.

Matt! That was an AWESOME run! Smooth, and your timing with being on or off the throttle felt spot-on! Your car (as well as Alex's, from my Sat. ride with him) has so much power, along with the ability to hold the line despite a significant drift. My car felt seriously deficient after those rides.

A big Thumbs Up to Matt's and Alex's driving this weekend, Thank You for the rides! (On Sat. I was privileged to experience Alex's 'If you want to know how to drift through the turns, Ebrake style, still driving on the racing line, not hitting any cones ... and lose your class by 3 seconds and come up about dead last in pax, SURE! http://www.renoscca.org/forums/image...s/icon_lol.gif' Even though he ended up FIRST in pax on Sat!

And Congrats to Kevin AND Nina, for some great run times in the morning!

szucchet 2010-07-09 08:04 PM

so who's coming out this weekend, ill be there sunday running BSP

cody 2010-07-09 08:11 PM

I'll be there tomorrow afternoon and all day Sunday. I'm really not looking forward to the heat though. I guess low 90's is better than high 90's anyway.

How did the surface hold up this afternoon?

Mike: was that a banzai last run with 4 cones? :)

And as far as raw times - what's going on, is the Lotus the new F125?

JoeWRX 2010-07-10 06:36 PM

Had a lot of fun today, definitely wanna go again... gunna remember sunscreen next time

MattR 2010-07-10 07:34 PM

That course was an ass kicker. I hope it's softened up a bit tommorrow. Street tire temps > 220 are no good.

cody 2010-07-10 08:34 PM

Ya, there were two 1st gear turns for me. I actually hit full lock on the steering wheel on both of them on my fastest run.

Good times though. My tires didn't seem to get all that hot. At no point were they too hot to hold my hand on and spraying the fronts didn't seem to help grip at all. Good times though. Hopefully we have another cool breeze tomorrow like we did today.

I hit 220 after one run in the Mazda 3. Crazy. Will have a sprayer out there tomorrow.

I didn't see it at the registration table, it might be on the bus or in the trailer.

dknv 2010-07-11 12:58 PM

Sunday morning run groups - Cody and Matt were burning up the course! Then John and Patty Evans kicked a$$ in the 2nd run group. It'll be interesting to see how the results pan out after Sunday afternoon runs.

MattR 2010-07-11 03:18 PM

Damn Mike, we ran pretty close in Raw time today.

dknv 2010-07-11 03:26 PM

You guys in the top 4 are keeping the pax race Very Interesting!

MattR 2010-07-11 03:29 PM

I want to hurry and get to the RFR events and hopefully make up some ground on these guys.

cody 2010-07-11 03:49 PM

Aw man, I did get a cone on my 46.7. I thought so. Oh well, at least I had a 47.0 to fall back on. Thanks everyone. Good weekend...though I have a rip in my inlet pipe that will need fixing quick.

A1337STI 2010-07-12 08:08 AM

Damn Cody, that 46.7 was a fast run for sure, That would have given you a 2nd place pax score, and it would have extended your lead.

Now i get to hold the temp title of pax leader for about 13 more days... lol
