I think my first playthrough took a little over 60 hours. Still, the game's been out since November 20th. . .

I had a nice amount of time to play while unemployed. Since september I've finished the main quests in Assassin's Creed, Beautiful Katamari, Mass Effect, HL2, HL2 ep1, and Portal (plus the advanced maps and all silver challenges), and put some time in to Oblivion, HL2 ep2, Forza 2, Tomb Raider Anniv, Quake 2 (xb360), Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3.

doubleurx 2008-01-06 08:13 PM

Ferrari 599 unlocked

doubleurx 2008-01-06 08:32 PM

It looks like one track only.

van 2008-01-06 08:45 PM

damn, i took the first evo of the first turn and still beat them all first try, my 2yr old almost got the first one in under 3 minutes

I really didn't play that much. All those games don't actually translate in to much time when you're jobless for four months.

Let's see. . . Assassin's Creed was probably only 10 hours or so. Katamari's story mode is pretty short - maybe a few hours. Mass Effect was about 60 hours over the course of a whole month. Orange Box was about 30 total: 16 hours in HL2, 4 in Ep1, and perhaps 10 in Portal (including time spent on challenges). Over the course of 4 months, that equals less than an hour per day. Add in the other titles, and I may have played for a few hours on various weekdays (there were plenty of days when I didn't play at all), and a bit longer over weekends. And most of my gaming was done after the wife and kid were in bed.

I know how to balance family and hobbies, thanks.

Your wife doesn't mind going to bed alone?

Mine hates it when I stay up later than her, even when she goes to bed at like 10pm. I usually don't feel like sleeping until midnight or so, but a lot of times I go earlier to try and keep the peace. I don't see the big deal, but she gets pretty pissed sometimes. Sometimes I'll get into bed to find that my pillow is missing because she threw it across the room somewhere.

Are we talking straight up here, or insinuating something else?

She doesn't mind. She normally goes to bed at 9:30, because she has to be up at 5:30 to get to work at 6:45. That's pretty much impossible for me, so she's ok with it.

My jobs also haven't been quite as boring as hers, so I can get by with a bit less sleep. While I was out of work, I usually went to bed between 2 and 3AM, and woke up at 8:30-9AM with the boy. Now I hit the hay between 11PM and midnight, and get up at 6AM.

As far as, erm, other activities go, since having the boy we've gotten pretty good at making time without having to coordinate sleep schedules. :P

van 2008-01-07 08:36 PM

In the tuned miata I'm currently ranked #41 of at least 5k :)
Edit: bumped it

Double Phister 2008-01-08 08:52 AM

is 1.2 new?????? I thought that's what I've been playing since last spring.

The leaderboards were always jacked. My best time on the reverse track with the 599 MT, r3 tires, no TCS, etc. was in the low 1'13.1" range. It would be on posted for a few days then some times that were much slower would appear at the top of the list like it was getting reset. Not very satisfying at all.

Because then the video card is just running 2 1440x900 monitors, which is the most common widescreen resolution at this point.

'Spensive. And 19" widescreens are still more common than larger ones.

Whoops.

Actually my 19" at home that runs 1600x1200 is the same size if you were to chop the "wide" part off.

Kevin M 2008-01-09 04:56 PM

You buy 'spensive monitors. I feel inadequate now. :(

Don't look at my room either, then, lol. Overkill is a good starting point. I think my desktop right now is 3200x1200 on two 21" LCD's with a 3rd output at 1920x1080 on the 37" LCD.

Yay bachelor.....eep.

Umm...

..that's pretty cool.

And here I thought I was pimp with two 19 inchers.

doubleurx 2008-01-10 09:53 AM

1920 x1080 is the new widescreen standard for 1080P HD resolution.

I use a single 37" lcd widescreen at work but I am contemplating using 2 42" lcd's this summer, maybe stack the 37" on top in the middle..................than I will go blind!

What's stupid, though, is that HDTVs use the 16x9 ratio, and computer monitors use 16x10 or 16x9.

Agreed - the whole 16X9 ratio is just plain silly. The concept was to use a ratio that is a standard in the movie industry so you see what the director sees. The reality is they don't use 16X9 - it's more like 16X6 ratio. That's why you still see those damn black bars top and bottom on DVD.

Few things would make me mad as a child and this was one of them. "why would you make the TV a square and movies a wide rectangle?"

[craggy old man mode]Look here sonny.... In the olden days movies were 1.33:1(4:3) and when TV was invented, it matched that aspect ration. :P

In the 1950s, movies went "wide screen" and TV took 50+ years to catch up, largely due to consumers not caring and lack of a standard means to transfer larger images...

Most still imagery is still 4:3 by the way.

And widescreen sucks for doing any work that will end up being printed!

Now where did I put my teeth?[/COMM]
