The two most impressive runs I saw were Silvio's 38.2 in RNP, and Adam Kovac's 40.6 from TES- after a snow flurry, on a badly graveled course!

MPREZIV 2009-10-05 06:38 AM

Yeah, it was seven rounds of bare-knuckle-boxing yesterday afternoon. The scary part was neither of us having any brakes in the cold, and barely making the stop at the finish!

20psiMR 2009-10-11 02:33 PM

Looks like you guys had fun! I had friends in town and just barely got the shock back from KW that Friday, so didnt have time to get an alignment. Next event Im out in Oklahoma again, so looks like season is over for me :( Time to order some parts and get ready for next year! I did bump up spring rates and put on a rear sway last weekend though, so should be fun learning the car again. I can definitely feel the rear is a bit looser now! Time to put the snows on, need to get the bald tires stripped off the advans. Im just leaving the new RE's in the closet so they stay nice and toasty lol.

AutoX on the 26th out at RFR ... anyone else dumb enough to want to camp out a lohotan lake? i did that on the autox that it snowed on us.. was a bit chilly in the tent... lolz.

anyone have a spare inner/outer tie rod that works on an STI? will GD parts work on it? both my driver and passenger sides are like fused. at the GRS i tried to give my front end a lil toe out, but ended up towing it in due to the shit being all stuck :( i'll autoX again toe in , in the front but its a lil lame.

Final 2009 Solo Weekend Will Be at Stead! by Jim Gandy at 10:03 am, Oct 12
Reno Region SCCA's season-ending Solo weekend October 24th & 25th has been moved to Stead Airport! All our usual procedures and schedules will apply. The run group orders are: Saturday WBYG, Sunday GWBY.

cody 2009-10-15 07:55 AM

Wow! That makes it easy for me. Man, I miss racing 2 miles from my house. Surface conditions?

LOL. I guess the question is any different from when we first went out there? Did a bunch of Air Race traffice pack it down some?

Dean 2009-10-19 12:52 PM

Debbie mentioned that the sweepers were running full blast the day she was at the air races early that week...

Hopefully that helped. When we went out for fun there for the 'fun runs day' we were able to wear one or two of the turns down to the old surface.

van 2009-10-23 04:36 PM

Course has been set!

I've just come home from Friday set-up, and I can report that a full summer's heat, heavy air race traffic and many hours of sweeping by the airport staff seem to have tremendously reduced the gravelling problem at Stead. We won't know for sure until we hit the course at speed, but course-checking runs didn't loosen much gravel, if any. So, I'm very optimistic that our season-ending Solo events Saturday and Sunday (the 24th and 25th) will be just as much fun as we've come to expect.

Even if you're planning on taking a pass on these events, you should at least drop by during the weekend to see for yourself. If all goes well, we just may be able to resume "normal" Solo operations in 2010!

May have to drop bye and check it out. Maybe take a ride or coach some...

Damn fuel pump!
Thanks to Kevin,Nina,Kevin,Heather,Brian,Silvio and the Jacob Read for hanging out and helping me with my car.
Super big thanks to Scott Knauf for trailering my sorry ass home.

Results posted.

Holy Crap Kevin W...No more morning ride alongs for you...you kicked my ass today, glad I chose to run BSP, haha. It looks like Kevin M and I split the PAX wins on consecutive race weekends, if only I would have scored better today I could have taken 3rd in season PAX, but I just missed it... :( Great driving everyone...It appears the AWD cars have a stronghold on events at Stead for the time being, we'll have to see how the surface holds up over the winter.

MPREZIV 2009-10-26 06:35 AM

Dammit, no trophy for 5th in pax... Still pretty proud of that.

The surface definitely got better as the weekend went along. I ended up putting down a clean 50.5 on my last RNP run!

Ha Ha! I was pretty surprised when I looked at the results. The surface was a little warmer for the afternoon runs yesterday which Im sure helped out. Plus the run groups were pretty small, so we were going pretty quickly. The AWD factor will definitely have a good advantage at those Stead events. Yesterdays pax 7 out of the top 10 cars were subies!

Hell ya, you should be! I was happy to just sneak in to the top 10.

dknv 2009-10-26 10:32 AM

Matt, Cory, Vic, Kevin M and Kevin W -- 5 of the top 10 in open pax, with Renee taking Ladies pax, that's impressive, Congratulations!!

I thought I heard at some point on Sunday that Kevin thought there was a 50-second run in the car -- and I think my comment was, "maybe, for an alien". Congrats Kevin, on that awesome run! I was also really impressed with Nina's 53 second run, Wow!

Kevin M 2009-10-26 10:49 AM

Nina and I both benefited from a better surface in the afternoon. Plus, everybody that RNPed saw lots of improvement in their times as we adjusted to the surface.

cody 2009-11-11 10:49 AM
