Oh, I don't think 220whp scares me. :p

If Pauly-boy ever calls me back, I should have at least that myself.

You realize that Nick w/ a TBE will easily make more than that... 2.5L > 2.0L... um, literally. Just gotta get Nick to spend the skrilla.

I've had a Protune for almost 2 years. It was my only advantage until now. Oh well, at least I'll win at making excuses for losing. :P

Actually, now its just a matter of getting Paul (or another tuner) to accept the skrilla.

At least in my mind, the wagon feels like a rocket and I think it ways less than the Legacy. I can't wait until the start of the season. Remember everyone, Nick is also going to be putting more rubber down this season. Without looking anything up, I think my little wagon less heavy then the Legacy.

Yeah, I think once its all said and done, power/weight should be about the same between our cars. Now its all about the rubber.

When doing the back and forth with traffic cones, always wear a raincoat.

And it's not the size of the meats, it's how you use them...

I wish my car was worth getting tuned.

cody 2007-03-13 11:16 PM

It could be worse... it could be "drop well over 'a grand', tow to the other side of the Mtn, then down to Hayward, then wait a few months, then pick up the car on the trailer, try to find somewhere to drive a non-street legal car 1000 break-in miles, put it back on the trailer, tow it back over the Mtn and back to Hayward, tune the car, and tow it back to Reno, and hope it's all done before April 14".

cody 2007-03-14 08:36 AM

Yes, well you're special Scott. :P

That sucks that they can't just break it in on the dyno.

I imagine 1000 miles of dyno time would be *quite* expensive.

cody 2007-03-14 08:45 AM

Ah, what's another couple grand to Scott though? :P

(1000 miles / 60 mph average) * $200/hr = $3333

Nick Koan 2007-03-14 09:37 AM

Kick it up a notch.

(1000 miles / 120 mph average) * 200hr = $1667

Dude, with a 3800 rpm rev limit you can't go 120 mph.

MikeK 2007-03-14 10:26 AM

Just put 22s on

How do that spin the motor more? It's not like the purpose of the break-in is to make the wheels turn for 1000 miles, it's to make the motor turn for 1000 miles.

MikeK 2007-03-14 10:39 AM

Oh yeah.

Try 30s then.

Scott, I don't think you can argue with logic like that!

GST Mike 2007-03-14 10:50 AM

Um how about no to breaking it in on the dyno! I have done that to more than my fair share of cars over the years and it sucks.

Mike

Yeah, I'd rather not do that. What I need to know though, is how many miles I absolutely have to put on the motor before we can tune it... I don't know that I'll have the time to put 1000 miles on it. Last time I built the motor, I had a week off during Xmas break to do laps around the bay area in the car.... this time I'm going to bring it back to Reno (I think) and I'll just have an hour a day or so to drive it around.... can I get away w/ 500 miles? Less? More? I don't want to screw up the motor, but the season is looming, only one month from today!

NevadaSTi 2007-03-14 11:17 AM

Why don't you just jack the car up, rev it up just like in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and get your miles that way. LOL

I can jsut picture Lisa in the garage now...
