You guys realize that Subaru's, including WRX's and STI's, are extremely commonplace, and that most of us see 4 or 5 a day, right? If we all posted every time we saw a Subaru, this thread would make up about 50% of the size of our database.

Note the date of the original post... December 2002... back when there were maybe 10 WRX's in Reno, and seeing one was rare. Nowadays, unless it's someone on the board, or some crazy modded car, it's just not "sighting worthy" to see an STI on the road. You might as well start posting "I saw 34 outbacks today" and list the intersections.

I'm not saying "don't post sightings"... I'm just wondering what the point is for all you people that are putting up sightings of random stock cars all the time? (Seriously, I'm not flaming... just wondering.)

Totally.

However, stock LGT wagons with 5MT's are exceptions to this rule.

Didn't notice you.

Speaking of seeing seccs members, I think we should High-Beam eachother. I wanted to start doing it, but I havent seen anyone that I know. High beam me, or expect a high beam if I notice you :P

I found waving works ok, and doesn't piss off other drivers and cop. :P

If it's a WRX I just flip them off.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAH now that was funny!

I saw a very cool looking Sedona Red Wagon, exactly like mine, and then realized I was driving next to a big bank of windows....But I did wave at myself!

MattR 2006-01-30 06:37 PM

Dude, Ezdno, you need to get out more...

How to entertain Ezdno, click here for details.

Ezdno 2006-01-30 06:44 PM

I need to get out more?....I was out earlier, digging a 200 ft trench for some power to a youth softball league scoreboard, and then I went to install some enterprise software, then I went to the bank, oh and I went to office max.....damn I need to get out more often.....oh did I mention I only work 4 hrs a day 4 days a week?

And it was funny, in the context used and knowing JC's pure hatred of a far superior model of subaru.

and even funnier is how many of the people that read that actually clicked it before checking its url properties.....lol

How many bone stock STI's did you see while out doing all that? :P

MattR 2006-01-31 05:23 PM

Back on track...

I saw Bruspeed getting on 395 today at Plumb Lane. I was in the truck. What's up dude?

Yeah, I saw the titan, and was like "I think that is Matt" <---Not really relevant.

I scored a fab job at Yesco on Glendale ave. And then my cuz is starting a neon shop around the corner, so we were browsing for pads. I'm really looking forward to being "local" should be rad! :D

MattR 2006-01-31 09:36 PM

Congrats Chris...Yesco is a good company. I'm sure we'll see you around more.

Thanks Matt.

Damn, now I feel stupid for driving past their billboard everyday for 3 months and not thinking to tell you that an electric sign company was hiring.

Ezdno 2006-02-01 01:14 PM

Well since its back up and on track so to speak, I saw a new Taco Bell commercial, utilizing a 04-05 Silver STi. I know its not a real siting, but you don't see many commercials with the subie. It might not be new either, but it is the first time I have seen it.

I'd heard about that but finally saw it for the first time last night. My girlfriend made fun of me because it looks exactly like my car, and now apperantly I'm sponsored by "Crunchwrap Supreme!".. Luckily a much lamer commercial with a Mini came on shortly after and I was able to return the abuse.

There's a Quaker State commercial with a similar Silver Sti . :(

Now that is some funny stuff. We are going to forget that by autocross season though. You might also remind her that as co-driver, she is "Miss Crunchwrap Supreme". And we should just leave that one alone I think...

Saw Matt today in his "seccs" stickered titan on McCarren today. I bet he saw me.. or us. I wasn't driving, but riding around in that POS 1g eclipse.

Hey Ryan, you were in that White dsm? That thing was smoking A LOT, does the owner know about the smoke? Man, that thing needs a little TLC.

Yeah, but it's a dark smoke, right? Like excess fuel? Which is weird, cuz we changed the spark plugs today and they were casper WHITE. So, I dont know. It does need some TLC. Although it looks like a POS, and is treated like a POS, it hawls BAWLS!

MattR 2006-02-01 10:03 PM

Yeah, dark black smoke.

Perhaps you run lean while cruising but rich when you get on it?

I'm gonna go with "it's a DSM, so it's fast, smokey, and finicky". And yes, most tuned cars smoke when you get on 'em... nature of the beast. DSMs just more than most.

cody 2006-02-02 10:58 AM

But what about the plugs indicating it's running lean? Or, is that normal for a tuned car too?

That's "normal" for a fast DSM. That's what makes 'em fast.

No, usually you can check the plugs to check whether you're running lean or not - thats what I learned, atleast. Of course, you could also do this with a wideband o2 or datalogger. And at idle, his car runs really rich. We gutted his mas and in order to keep it to idle, we added +35% fuel at idle.

And scott, about the smile, I think mine is more of a giggle than a laugh.

cody 2006-02-02 11:27 AM

I'm aware that plugs tell a story. The "normal" plug in this chart looks pretty white though.

Dean 2006-02-02 11:42 AM

Plugs only reliably tell a story if you put in a freash set, run them at the RPM/Load you are interested in for a while, and turn the ignition off without doing anything else. Stop the car, and pull the plugs.

Anything else is mostly crap data.

I can see that bein somewhat true (RE: assuming AFR's), but if the electrode melts off, I think that tells you somthing for certain.

Kevin M 2006-02-02 11:41 PM

Posting OT in the thread. :p

Ezdno 2006-02-03 10:16 AM

ScottyS was that your little green wagon I saw heading into the Costco Parking lot?

If not, what year offered that metallic green. That the first one I have seen that solid color, most are two toned.

JonnydaJibba 2006-02-03 10:20 AM

He has an Impreza L wagon I'm pretty sure, not an Outback, if that helps.

Ezdno 2006-02-03 10:31 AM

Well this looked identical as mine from the back, and I couldnt tell if it had a scoop, but it was wearing a bra. Looked like acadia green or whatever. Never seen one like that. What size tires do you need for your rims Jonny?

JonnydaJibba 2006-02-03 11:02 AM

205/50 16s or 205 55 16s.

Kevin M 2006-02-03 11:50 AM

I've got a set of cheapo 205/55R16 summer tires you can have for free. Just get them out of the garage. :)
