Both. They will be seperated into their own class per event, and have their times listed, but not scored for season points unless they choose to move to a true class.
Novice year end awards will not be based on Novice class participation.
The purpose of the novice class is to give people a place to learn for a couple events and see if they like it and make a somewhat informed decision to move into a real class.
It is not intended to be a season long class as other regions have.

If that's the case, do we really need a "Novice" class, isn't is essentially the same as RNP, plus an option to move 4 events to a points class?
I'd almost rather see Novice as another PAX class like Street Tire... but to be eligible you have to actually be a novice. I would base the year end Novice award on the results from that class, but leave "Rookie of the Year" up to the board as it currently is.

I am attempting to reduce the pain at tech, and registration with people who show up for 1-3 events and are never seen again. We spend way to much time confusing these people with classing, and rule books the first day they show up when we should be helping them understand their cars, driving, etc.
Anybody who shows up 4 times hopefully has a bit of a clue by then, and can ask for help on car classing, and make the jump to whatever class.
I realize this is just like RNP, and that is why it is a combined RNP/Novice proposal. The only reason I am differntiating them is because I ant the Ns to get some attention, and they don't have car numbers, etc. The other Key is that both R, and N can be run twice a day. T or any other class to be fair, cannot.
Maybe I should replace the word Novice with Beginner, but B is already taken.
We could generate a virtual "1st year" class results if we so choose...
