If it gets wet, the top goes up. No problem. :)

Most aftermarket seats/brackets are not designed to minimize seat height! They are universal seats with a marginally designed bracket. |
Just thought it might be helpful... as you can still get all the specs.. but I guess not :(
|
Dean, we can talk to Nate about fabbing brackets for a set of Sparcos or whatever.

I was just commenting on the stories I had heard from Miata owners about the fitment of aftermarket seats, not actually looking to buy any really. The Miata stockers are actually pretty good, at least in the '01s.
In cars like WRXs where the stocks sit up in the air, it is no big deal, but on short cars it is a big consideration aparently. Hard core race seats work well since often the brackets are actually connected to the seat on the sde, not the bottom. |
Ive seen alot of major brand seats in Miatas at Miata meets over the years, but the big thing is trimming the shoulder supports to not rub the door.. most people who have thick legs or who are taller bolt the seats straight to the floor.

Of course, like Dean said, I don't think either of us would be replacing them. Not anytime soon anyway. |
Its all good, just thought Id share something useful for a change, as Miatas are something I know quite well :)

I also keep wanting to build a Spec Miata that is still streatable sort of... 1.6 vs. 1.8 becomes the choice then though. |
Is an easy choice if you have the budget and if the rules allow :) 1.8 > 1.6 for just about any application i can think of :)

Actually the 1.6s own. It wasn't until late last year that anybody won a spec miata race in a 1.8.
|
Interesting. I thought it was closer than that.
I also think about picking up The Evans' white one and putting a couple things back on to make it a summer street rocket. A supercharged lightened beyong belief 1st gen could be fun. |

Dean, Green Valley Mazda has a Titanium Gray Miata in. Call James at 707-631-5037 and tell him you were referred by me to Ray. It's getting PDI'd in the morning. I have to pass on it on account of my lack of income. :(
