OK, Scott is setting up his garage whatever that means and won't get moving until 6 or so. Matt is probably going to take a nap and wait for Scott, so I'm headed to Del Taco for some food, and then hittin gthe road.

See you all there... As long as you have batteries, keep your radios on out there, and maybe we can get together.

See you there...

So, just a little update from today...

There is no Street Tire class (Because Idaho SCCA is in charge)...so Mike K and I are running in SM and A-Stock against race tire cars...so we are getting ownzd

Dean is currently 5th in overall PAX !!!!!!!!!!!
Scott is not far behind, they are representing well...

Overall, Reno region is Ahead of Snake River (Idaho) in overall standings! Wish us luck for tommorrow.

Yeah, there are several drivers from Reno Region on street tires, being scored with the 'harder pax' classes - and still we drove well, and Reno Region WINS again!

There were 2 spinoffs into the desert, and several vehicle breakdowns from drivers in both regions, but all in all the weekend went pretty well.

I had fun despite my off-pace driving. I'm glad I didn't cost Reno the trophy!
Have fun in Hawthorne-- I won't be there to drag down team Reno's PAX average.

You aren't dragging down Reno's PAX avg! (I edited my previous post, hoping no one is mistaking me for saying that our street tire drivers were dragging down our average.)

I got a chance to watch you, and the STX drivers, when I was working at turn 2. You guys all did really, really well!

You must have something else already going on, for Memorial Day weekend? That's the only reason to miss.

Dean 2004-05-17 12:59 PM

Pat, and anyone else, don't think that by attending a challenge event that you would be hurting our Region in some way.

I strongly encourage every member regardless of experince to attend any and every event they can. The challenges are just that, an oportunity to compete against drivers and vehicles you normally do not get to.

There was some discussion this weekend that using average PAX to determine the overall trophy might cause someone to discourage a region's less experienced drivers from coming.

IMHO that is hogwash, or at minumum, anyone who would do that is pretty low. I personally am much more interested in the people, having a good time, and maybe the class and PAX battles. Which region ends up with a big hunk of wood and plastic they can put in a closet for a year, at the end of the day while of interest is not the reason to attend one of these events.

Just my $.02

I'm just disappointed that I drove so poorly. I should have been faster, but oh, well.

If I didn't have other plans for Memorial Day, I would definately be going to Hawthorne.

See you at Stead on June 12th!

I get this feeling sometimes too. Then I think, 'I'll just add this or that, I'll just switch to race tires', but I have to catch myself from going too far down that path either. Sometimes, I just have an off day; even with 6 runs! At least our cars are wonderful to drive on the street, and they didn't break this weekend.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, c u in June.

Believe it or not, we all know the feeling. I was very disapointed with the way I drove both at the past Stead weekend, and at the natonal tour event at Atwater. After two consecutive weekends of less than desireable performance, I actually took some time to think about what I was doing, or more importantly not doing.

I knew I was going fast, and that my car was well prepared, so what was left? Turns out I had three problems, my eyes, my attitude, and my hands. I was not looking where I was going as well as I normally do, I was trying to hard to go fast, and because of both of those or in addition, my hands were not as slow and smooth as I know they can be.

I admit, I had a good weekend at Winnemucca, but I still could have driven better. I know exactly where I left about 2 tenths of a second in the big slalom and last turn on Sunday. The former was due to my hands, and the later due to my eyes. Saturday it was the same thing in the short slalom, and the pivot afterwards. hands and eyes respectively again.

I have changed my attitude by thinking about specific things I need to do, not just an all encompasing go faster. I think about these specifics as I walk, and befor and between runs.

Things like. "Must slow way down here/there.", "Must be looking there when I get here.", "Must be smooth here/there"...

Just keep reiinforcing specific things you can do to improve, and you will.

If you have ever riden with or watched Sue, she is a very smooth driver, and almost always on line, but she has been somewhat frustrated she isn't faster, so we talked about it. Her ability to visualize and describe where she is on the course, and where she is looking has greatley improved, but we found that she could not accurately describe where her right foot was at any given time. So that is now her focus for improvement. Knowing where that foot is, and why.

All I'm saying is that we all have our off days/weekends... Don't think so much about it as trying to analyze why. Do you know where you could have made up time, do you know where you over drove, and what can you do to improve next time.

See you at Stead

I posted this in the wrong thread earlier

Unofficial Preliminary results posted to www.RenoSCCA.com

Scott is working on the Renoized version that will have the Street Tire class cars correctly classed and PAXed.
