We're checking to see if the car is NESP legal, looks like it was until the new brakes go on tomorrow...So I will run the car in NSM.

Are you sure the brakes are illegal in ESP? I thought street prepared allowed brakes as long as they bolt on to the stock location, whereas STX said "brakes are unlimited" (until recently when they outlawed carbon brakes).

You are right! I was mistaken...From what I can tell...your firing breathing awesome mobile is NESP legal...cool.

Air ducts may be fitted to the brakes, provided that they extend in a forward direction only, and that no changes are made in the body/structure for their use. They may serve no other purpose. Backing plates and dirt shields may be modified or removed.

Thanks Austin.

Hey Scott, I was thinking, why don;t you run in NESP next year instead of street mod? It's kind of a cheater class if you ask me...

Dean 2004-09-01 09:22 AM

No Boost Mods allowed in SP...

You can run the stoc map and be okay just like STX, right?

Dean 2004-09-01 09:31 AM

Yes, but I thought one of Scott's desires was for more boost, thus SM.

sperry 2004-09-01 09:38 AM

Dean's right, I'm looking for a class that will allow me to up my boost, and swap the turbo/IC. At least in NESP I can instally those IC hoses I've got.

On the other hand, running in ESP w/ race tires might be a blast! But then I'd get beat up on by Lucas instead of Dean. At least I could try to represent for the Suby crowd against all those F-Body and 'Stang guys!

Those ESP rules regarding brakes: where does it say you can replace the rotors and calipers? I see a lot of stuff about lines, etc, but can I toss a BBK on there or not?

Dean 2004-09-01 10:01 AM

Nope...

Part B. of 15.6

Cross-drilled and/or slotted brake rotors may be used, provided the
replacement rotors have the same dimensions as standard rotors
and are of a standard-type construction and of ferrous metallic
material. This does not permit the use of a two-piece hat/rotor
assembly unless the standard configuration is two-piece.

___________
It makes no mention of calipers, so no changes allowed... This is one of the reasons I moved from BSP to SM in the Stealth.

Darn! We'll miss you out there.

Eric, I think you have 7 events this year (of 9 needed for trophy). Hopefully you can make both days in October.
