So:

It's look like we might need to sort out a schedule and some dates?

As of now your ECU is in your car with custom reflash. What year was your car Nick?

Thursday the 30th: Maybe you trade Kevin for his 02 ECU(my car is 03) to put in your car?

Saturday the 2nd: I will be going down to the Subaru and Alphas Meet BBQ

Sunday the 3rd: nothing really

Monday the 4th: Track day at Thunderhill

How soon does all this need to get done. It could be easier to do it after the track is over with and all that.

I was planning on these as a second set for the new sti, but it turns out that for '05 they changed the wheels to a 17x8 width with a different bolt pattern. I found this out while shootin' the shit with the salesman after we closed the deal (not that I would have passed on this deal).
Congratulations on your purchase, can't wait to see it.

I'd be interested in the Rota torques and the tires, I'll need summer wheels. What would the price on these be?

I purchased the package from Subydude for 1200. Subydude offers the wheels alone right now for 700.

How does $850 sound for both wheels and tires.

I assume Kevin was being the generous fellow to loan the ecu for the trade. If this is the case, I could pick up the ecu from Kevin (assuming there are no issues with an 02 swap in an 03). I would take that ecu with me the following weekend to Nate. He would place that ecu in my car on Sunday. He would reflash my ecu to stock. You go to your track day as planned. The following Thursday, I show up in my shiny new STI with my Ecu, hand it to you and kevin swaps it with your ecu.

If this sounds OK let's do it. And thanks again Kevin. At the very least Kevin gets Dinner and a beer Thursday.

I'll wait for Kevin to comment.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 04:28 PM

I must have had a few too many beers. Excuse the last post, somehow my response did not get places.

At any rate, I assume Kevin was offering to provide his ECU as the temp replacement. If so, Thanks Kevin that is very generous. Then it would work like this:

Thursday, I pick up Kevin's ECU. I bring it to Nate on Sunday. He puts the ecu in my car (hopefully no issues with an 02 in an 03). Then he reflashes my ecu to stock. I come to the next Thursday meet with my ecu and hand it to Kevin. Kevin installs it in place of Tyson's ecu, and takes Tyson's stock ECU and Tyson hands me $250. Then we buy Kevin Dinner and Beer.

Sounds OK?

Yah I pretty much read it like that.

So I guess it depends if Kevin is willing to do that and if the 02 and 03 are interchangeable.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 07:19 PM

You are correct Tyson. I'll check with Nate tomorrow whether there is any difference between the 02 and 03. I believe they are compatable and it was the 04 that had a change.

FYI: Franz just picked up the P1's. Sorry Dean, you both expressed interest at exactly the same time. If there is anyting else your interested in just let me know.

Dean 2004-09-26 07:24 PM

No Problem... I wasn't real excited about the 7" width anyway.

I also have an 02 WRX Stock ECU lying around if someone needs to borrow it.

Thanks Dean, that is very generours of you.

Kevin M 2004-09-26 11:09 PM

I can put the 02 ecu I have into the car, and if the CEL comes up I'll DeltaDash it to make sure it's not important, and you can bring it back after you and Tyson do the reflash/stock flash thing. It's really no trouble for me, it's just sitting in my garage. 8)

Why don't you put Kevin's ECU in Tyson's car. Then put Tyson's in your car. Then yours in Tyson's car. That way everyone has the right year ECU? An ECU swap only takes a couple minutes IIRC.

Wait, I think if we try harder, I can make it more complicated. Actually, I would need to pick up the stock ECU on Thurday as I won't have my car. I would have Nate install the ecu into my car and reflash my ecu. I will bring my ecu back on Sunday.

The reason is, I definately want my car to be driving when I turn it into the dealership, so it is making one last run to Nate's and then straight to the dealer. Hopefully this works for either Dean or Kevin. And again, thanks to both of you for the offer. Kevin, the same would go for the sway bar.

Dean 2004-09-27 08:34 AM

My ECU is sitting on the living room floor, an available anytime... I can get the model/Serial tonight if anyone wants it.

Dean that would be great. Thanks. You would have an ecu returned to you within a week.

ArthurS 2004-09-27 08:46 AM

Tyson - Are you going to grab his sway and endlinks?

doubleurx 2004-09-27 11:36 AM

OK, one more thing to add to the list. It turns out there were more changes to the STI than I first thought. My coilovers will not fit on the 05 STI.

They are APEXI Type V-N1 coilovers - 23 way dampening adjustment and stiff as hell. They have full pillowball top mounts with front camber adjustment.

Retail on these things are $2495, I got them on sale from Gruppe S for $1695 They were installed last November.

Will Sell for $1,100.

MattR 2004-09-27 12:19 PM

Holy! That's a great buy right there..

I forgot to mention these fit 02 - 04 wrx and sti. They do not fit the 05 STI. So if your interested Matt they will fit your car as well.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!

Hold On!

I you are selling the Coilovers I want them over the ECU!

JC is right I need those and 1,100 sounds decent for that setup.

The whole ECU selling thing is over now.

Tyson's got them. But now you need more power, then you take it to the track, blow up your tranny and buy an STI!

Art do you want the sway bar and end links?

Dean are you sure that's an 02 ECU? I was under the impression that all 02s were -AF4**. Mine is AF421 (first run of 02s) and it's probably better to use mine, because I need to use one of my 3 DD licenses on it to verify that the CEL it will throw in Tyson/Nick's car isn't important while it's in transit. I have 2 licenses left, one will be for my WRX swap ECU and one for the next Subaru I buy, so I can't use it on yours.

Tyson told me today that he wants the Cusco bar if he still has dibs.
