Besides my roomate Bryan...

BTW...it went from blowout, to nailbiter, back to blowout, Too much excitement...Manny Ramirez is a chump.

khail19 2004-10-12 10:04 PM

Yeah, I was getting scared for a bit there. But when they scored those last 2 runs to make it 10-7 I knew it was over. And Manny Ramirez is a chump.

Kevin M 2004-10-12 10:47 PM

Chump? All he does is hit .330 with 45 homers and a zillion RBI every year. Too bad this year they have a DH who also hit .310 with 40+ homers and like a zillion +3 RBI who is even WORSE in the field. :(

He certainly was last game. I think someone needs to teach him how to move faster then a slow trot.

Well, game 2 is on in 15 minutes? Anyone watching?

--Go Sox!

Nick Koan 2004-10-13 03:50 PM

I'll be watching it at home, unless anyone wants to meet at a bar or someone else's house.

I was just planning on heading home to watch there.... though I will need some grub.

Also, if it's dark enough, I'll probably toss it on the projector, so we should be able to handle having a few ppl over to watch w/o having to pile onto my bed.

But I like it when we have people over and we all pile onto your bed... wait...

khail19 2004-10-13 08:17 PM

All I have to say is 2-0. Go Yankees!

Congratulations!! You just won a free stabbing! Come by Scott's house to redeem.

Offer valid until the Sox win the World Series... at this rate, there's no expiration date.

khail19 2004-10-13 08:24 PM

Yeah, 1918 was a long time ago!

Kevin M 2004-10-13 08:27 PM

Random thought... what if both LCS are won by the underdogs, and Jeff Bagwell wins Series MVP by hitting .670 with 4 home runs and a dozen or so RBI and runs, overshadowing both the Curse of the Bambino and Buckner in one foul swoop?

khail19 2004-10-13 08:31 PM

Um, are you talking about the National League? I think you have to start your own thread for that!

I'm talking about the Sox... I said "both LCS underdogs". That would put 'Stros and Sox in the series, thus enabling Bagwell to ensure his HOF legacy.

Besides, this is SECCS... like I have to stay on topic anyway.

:P

Well do you still want to stab me Scott? Since the Yankees just handed your Sox the pennant on a silver platter? Here you go, kick our asses four times in a row. It's been a few years since I was good at baseball, but I think I should DH for the Yankees next year. It couldn't be any worse.

If Jeter hadn't slumped, the series would have been totally different. The 1st 3 game, the 1st for Yankee batters battel like .390, the last for the Sox held them to like .130!

Johnny Damon was also slumping, batting like .133 for the series until the last game... then he drove in 6 RBIs with two swings... and that made all the difference.

...and BTW: it wouldn't hurt quite so much if you Yankee fans hadn't been such assholes for the last 80 years or so. :P

khail19 2004-10-21 03:48 PM

Johnny Damon is the Yankees' daddy now. And I didn't know JC was a Yankees fan, but I guess it's only been twentysomething years for him being an asshole and not 80.

Just an off-the-wall baseball trivia fact, I'm full of them. Jeff Bagwell was traded by Boston to Houston for Larry Anderson in 1989 before he made his major league debut. Anderson won like 10 of 12 starts for Boston that year, getting them to the playoffs only to lose to Oakland before they went on to beat SF in the Series. Anyway, Bagwell went on to a Hall of Fame career, and Anderson retired a year and a half later. I figured, what better way to add to the Boston curse?

And now Bagwell is at home watching the WS as useful as any of us to the Astros.

Yeah, if that little daydream was only going to be half-right, the right half came true. I'm much happier with the Cards getting to beat the sox than with the Cards beating the Yanks..
