WOW !! What a turn of EVENTS during last nights WRC huh??
I was/am a bit ticked!!! still at Mitsubishi and their reasoning behind having what's his name slow down.. I mean he was doing really good . I think he could have had a podium finish had it not been for the "Slow Down" Instructions

Well, Marcus didn't slow down and ended up not finishing because he pushed too hard. What he should have done was just try to drive a clean and fast rally and wait for Solberg to make a mistake... instead he was the one that was disabled on the road with an angry Subaru driver behind him honking his horn.

Gronholm could have had an easy 2nd place, and a possible win if he hadn't gotten greedy and tried to out drive Solby. And his boss finally called him on it.

So anyway, by slowing down and driving a conservative race, Mitsu got 8 points and is tied for 2nd only 2 points behind Ford. After their last few years, I think Mitsubishi is doing the right think driving conservatively looking at the big season-long picture. They need to finish top 3 in manufacturer points, and winning outright isn't actually necessary... being consistant and finishing every event is.

BOO 2005-02-14 10:32 AM

I totally understand that Concept but What I mean is they should have not told him to slow down but rather Becareful.. I guess to me they are two totally different things..lol
Slow Down to the mind of a great.. simply means dont give it you all...
I guess maybe thats how I view it alteast... Psychologically speaking ...

BOO 2005-02-14 10:34 AM

Interesting how , as soon as the Mitsubishi started hitting snow(rally).. it started shinning!!!
I am glad that mitsubishi went back to the drawing board and came back ;)

Nick Koan 2005-02-14 10:36 AM

Gigi would most likely have crashed out if he kept the pace he is going at. He is an amazing driver, but a little loose in the head with very little experience in the snow or in a WRC car.

Not that being loose in the head is any bad thing for a rally driver, he just needs more experience with being a little loose in the head while driving a WRC car at 200 kilometer an hour

Hmmm who knows... I guess Sperry is right... atleast they are in second place (For Now) which is a great accomplishment for them having done really bad last year...

I can't believe Gardermeister and Ford are number 1 in both Drivers and Manufactures points. Thats awesome, especially considering they didn't expect much this year with two new drivers.
