I was thinking blue wheels would look sweet on my Silver. For autocross only and stuff...what say you?

sybir 2005-10-26 03:44 PM

Do it, in dark blue.
If I had a white, all-black, or silver car, I would.

Dean 2005-10-26 04:06 PM

Actually, I was thinking gunmetal blue would be cool. Most gunmetal you see is gunmetal grey, or gunletal bronze, gunmetal blue might be a really cool wheel color.

I can't find exactly what I'm talking about, but this Vette is closs.

No way dude. The next time you own a neutral colored car, it's Takata Green. :D Maybe I should do that anyway since I'm selling mine!

If I had wheels to powdercoat, I'd be game. But, you know. . .

I don't believe so. When he aquired the equipment it took him a week to inventory all the different powder.

I was going to go with chrome to match my numbers but decided to go with black instead.

Matt: you don't get to choose your color- you're getting "Cotton Candy" and you're going to like it! :P

Wait, Cotton Candy Pink is real close to STI pink yo..

Oh, and i heard there is an extra charge for wheels that have been previously "Matt Blacked" :)

I'd be interested in getting my stock wheels painted, but between the PC and dismount/remount/balance, aren't we talking about a couple hundred bucks?

sperry 2005-10-27 10:48 PM

Just do it the next time you're getting tires.

MPREZIV 2005-10-28 06:39 AM

I could help out if people have rims that need dismounting/mounting before and after the powdercoating. You'd need another set of rims to run in the meanwhile. Your car can't sit here at Nissan with no rims on it for a week! ha ha!

cody 2005-10-28 07:33 AM

That would work for me if we did it soon (RE: before the resorts open). I don't think the AVS ES100's I run as summer tires would be safe in snow.

Any ball park figures yet?

Depending on how much the PC is (usually $75-$150 a wheel at non-discounted group buy prices) plus another $50-$100 to dismount/mount/balance depending on where you go, so yeah, it could get expensive. Powder coating can get up there in price quick, maybe $500-$600 for the whole deal.

Okay, thanks for the wake up call. If that's the case then I'm out. Thanks.

Thats just a guess. Sometimes if you have a hookup, you can get powdercoating for much less (I don't want to quote anything, cause I may be wrong for this specific deal) and if you take Cory up on his offer, it sounds like dismounting and remounting might not cost too much either. You could get it done now, potentially, for much cheaper then what I posted.

sybir 2005-10-28 08:31 AM

I'll take pictures of my rims tonight, I just got them back from powder yesterday.

No hookup, just a guy in Chico who did an amazing job, especially given the previous condition of the wheels.

I paid 240 out the door for 4 17's. I gave them to him bare, he stripped them and prepped them, PC'd them, then I got them back in the original boxes. Painless, one stop, etc.

cody 2005-10-28 08:32 AM

Quit playing with my emotions. :P

Okay, stock wheels are what? 16X6.5"? I'd probably want a similar black to what Pat R. has. Quote please?

Libila 2005-10-28 12:36 PM

I want to get my stockers powdercoated :(

PS: Jonny, those six spokes you have are 16x7 noob.

Dean 2005-10-28 12:42 PM

So Pat, where are we... There is clearly interest, what is the next step? Do these guys want to do business?

Pat R. 2005-10-28 04:20 PM

I finally talked to him today. Preliminary guesstimate is $150 / set. I may be able to get it lower- especially if he doesn't have to order any powder.

Holy shit! $150 for four wheels!!? Awesome! Consider my Enkie's white... well as soon as I get my car back.

Dean 2005-10-28 05:36 PM

I'll drop my sub zeros off Monday... For that price, he can use any color he has within reason... Does he have a list of colors he has?

You also never know, with the power of the Internet, if he isn't net savy, we may be able to find him a source for cheap powder...

Kevin M 2005-10-28 05:39 PM

For $150 a set, I wish I had more wheels! I'll piggyback somebody else's color, especially if it's gold, bronze, or black.

Pat R. 2005-10-28 06:09 PM

I'll talk to him again Monday to try to firm up a price and get a list of what colors he has on the shelf.

I don't think he uses the net too much- he still has dial-up.
