Speaking of times... you wouldn't be able to export the result to a .CSV and email them to me, could you?

Or just bring the laptop when you come over to pick up your camber plates and we can pull the results then.

I almost forgot, Dave Deborde destroyed his engine when he missed a downshift.

Kevin M 2006-05-01 06:41 PM

Is that why he went off?

Yeah, one of which is that he told me at the last autox that his motor was being rebuild and that was why his car wasn't at that event.

:(

Dave didn't go off AFAIK. Also, whatever he did to the motor didn't seem to keep him from blowing by me on the last lap of qualifying.

But yeah, was shifting to 4th and accidentally went to 2nd and over-spun the motor which is now making funny noises according to Dave. Probably a bent valve. :(

Dave's got two Z's... one or both of which always seems to be in a state of "being rebuilt".

Kevin M 2006-05-02 10:37 AM

Dave went off in the right hander before the bowl. Misshifting to second going in would have been a handy excuse. ;)

During qualifying? I thought that was Lee Mitchell that put it sideways through the dirt at 12.

Kevin M 2006-05-02 11:35 AM

I remember it being immediately after lunch, not sure which session that was exactly. Dave was flagged and came through the hot pit right after. Or maybe I wasn't paying any attention and it was Lee...

That wasn't during qualifying then. Dave broke the motor during qualifying, and ended up not racing it.

If anyone is interested, here's my in-car from the Trials event:

Qualifying (86MB .WMV)

Timed Laps (52MB .WMV)

The movies are pretty low quality, just to try to keep the file sizes down.

You should be able to clearly hear the massive exhaust leak I developed during the morning practices that ended up limiting my boost levels during the timed laps.

doubleurx 2006-05-02 06:40 PM

Nice Scott. Thanks for posting. Your car sounds great. On my laptop I couldn't hear the exhaust leak. Driving looked very clean for the most part (of course that is from my perspective).

Great to see your car out there again. You must be stoked!

Well, the exhaust leak is pretty significant... enough to limit my boost quite a bit. I was making about 10 psi in every gear but 5th where I was able to eek out about 17 psi, but only at the top of the rpm range. Normally the car runs 20 psi from 3rd gear on. Even still, it was awesome to be back out on the track. It was damn near a year w/o being on a race track in that thing! :(

Nice. I though Art Majors was running in a time trial class, not tt2. hmm.. Anyway, it's weird, I've finished 8th in everything I've done this year, Solo and trials.

Eh? Art Majors was running a Time Trials class... Time Trials 2 to be specific. Or did you mean you thought he was running an SCCA road race class?

Also, finishing 8th overall doesn't mean much, since the championship is per class. You finished 5th in class.

What kind of an exhaust leak do you have that can limit your PSI?! Is it a hole in your manifold right above your turbo? To limit your psi, there has to be so much exhaust pressure excaping that leaves the remaining exhaust so weak that it cant spin the turbo enough to generate 11+psi. Have you ever heard an open wastegate? Does it sound anything like that? And if it did sound like that, you'd hear it... anywhere, even on a computer. I think you have another problem - not just a "leak" in your exhaust manifold. Maybe your wastegate is taking a dump http://www.seccs.org/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif

You could definately hear it. My car sounded like a volkswagon bug at idle and like a open wastegate stuck open under boost. On the video, my camera is mounted on the rear deck, so you really can't hear the leak up front over the sound coming from the muffler (remember, my car has no back seats).

I think it's just the downpipe/turbo junction leaking, since a bolt actually fell off the car there. However, I've never seen my boost limited that much from a leak after the turbo. I have seen my boost limited by header and up-pipe leaks, so I'm not ruling those out either. I'll know tonight when I finally get the car up on jack stands.

So enough talk about Scott's car, I want pictures, and I hear there is a video shot by Carrie and Marrissa floating around.

I supposedly have it, but when I popped it in the DVD player, it was just Matt's in-car footage.
