His China fiasco aside MacArthur was a brilliant commander and was basically the ruler of Japan from '45 to '49 (IIRC) during the US occupation. I think he even wrote some of the Japanese Constitution, which is part of why Japan today is so western.

Umm... he WROTE the Japanese Constitution - the entire thing I believe. It has yet to be ammended; but I dont credit that on his brilliance, I credit that to the culture. Yeah, he and one other guy are the only two reasons why Japan is doing so well today. The other guy, I forgot his name (I need to retain more at school) brought over the fundamentals of Supply Chain Management. From there, Japan developed new ways of going about business. Toyota, for example, developed the Just In Time method to run a business. But yeah, MacArthur was a great man.

You could try talking to the management at that store. Personally, I would be more inclined to ask someone to leave my store if it was at the request of other customers. Most of the time it's easier for a retail worker to avoid causing a scene and just ignore the BS, but if it's negatively affecting other people in the store, then it may be time to step up.

Yeah, next time educate that man about MacArthur!

Actually, my girlfriend in High School used to work there and complain about that guy. He's been doing that for a while. There must be something special about him, because if I was the manager, and he was doing that to my employees and costomers, I'd have him 86'd.

W. Edwards Deming. He is one of the main reasons Japan's auto industry started building vehicles far superior in quality to Detroit. He actually understood tolerances, variation, and how to build quality into a manufacturing process.

It's a thread in Off Topic what did you expect to happen?

Plus, yesterday was the anniversary of D-Day, something that everyone seemed to forget because it was also 6/6/06.

I saw more paranormal, ghostly, other-worldly type stuff on the tube yesterday than WW2 coverage. But I guess it kinda makes sense, 6/6/06 only comes once in a lifetime, so I guess why not do stories of that nature? Because stories of that nature are hooplah that's why!
