Tyson, you could be the first person in history to invent a 5 sided octagon!

tysonK 2006-09-18 03:32 PM

5 sided octagons are more efficient they use less sides and still get the job done.

but only if the job is to ruin autocross

MattR 2006-09-18 04:41 PM

Yes, I was waiting for someone to call it a pentagon, but I thought I was missing something.

the measured rough draft. some cones are for illustration. haha.

MattR 2006-09-25 05:09 PM

Awesome, with some visual additions it will be perfect. Good work man. I like the pentagon.

tysonK 2006-09-25 05:13 PM

Pat and I will work more on day 2 this week. As well as make changes that come up in this thread when Dean and Scott see it!?!

Joeyy 2006-09-25 05:35 PM

I like the box of death with its many cones, lower left. I'll be free on the Friday prior for set up. :)

In case anyone's wondering about the top right section, it's the Top Secret "Slalom That Ruined Autocross"

DARKSTI 2006-09-25 08:50 PM

Would you guys like some pics? I need to practice my panning and was figuring this may be a good thing, plus I am intrested in eventually Auto/RallyX'ing.:)

Congratulations on finally abusing your managerial powers. About time. :p

JonnydaJibba 2006-09-26 07:56 AM

That looks good. Not that I have any basis for comparison, but the colors and shapes are pretty.

Nick Koan 2006-09-26 07:57 AM

Day one looks good. Can't wait for the 5 sided octagon.

sperry 2006-09-26 10:19 AM

The pent-octagon is going to make everyone dizzy.

My only suggestion would be to open up the section right after the crossover... you won't be going all that fast coming out of the loop, and that section is *very* tight and leads into an already nightmareish box of cones.

Then, as Matt said, all you need are some pointer cones. Make sure that the driver will be clearly directed to the next manuver as they exit the current one. Matt and I like to use the old 4 pointers in a line trick to direct traffic. It seems to work well.

Nice work!

Dean 2006-09-26 10:28 AM

I'm also a big fan of double pointers pointing to stand up cones instead of singles. Every time I see a single out of the corner of my eye, I have to take a microsecond and make sure it is not a down cone. Doubles take away any doubt.

And with regard to what Scott is talking about on the left side, I might just rotate the chicago box counter clockwise to open it up.

I changed a few angles and messed around with some names...

Nick Koan 2006-09-26 07:30 PM

So, where is the "Slalom that ruined autocross"?

Pat R. 2006-09-26 08:10 PM

Day 2. It's bad form to ruin shit on the first day of a 2 day event.
"Hurry Up" should probably be renamed "Ridin' Dirty"

Nick Koan 2006-09-26 08:12 PM

It is potentially the dirtiest ridin' any of us will do all year.

Pat R. 2006-09-26 08:40 PM

They see me coning...

Kevin M 2006-09-26 09:38 PM

I am diggin' the Top Rope leading into the People's Elbow.

Dean 2006-09-26 09:51 PM

Gone in Four seconds could also be "The Pineapple Express".
