Kevin M 2006-10-19 11:46 AM

Is it street legal? What auto-x class would it be in?

zpeed 2006-10-19 12:18 PM

I just talk to Mike from Procontrol. He said that factory rollbar is ok, S2000 has a hoop behind the seat. So I guess I will take 4hr Lunch on Monday.

1) You live in Nevada, what do you think?

b) Prepared- original motor but no interior.

#) Profit!!!

Pat R. 2006-10-19 12:40 PM

Right now the interior is exterior.

zpeed 2006-10-19 12:44 PM

OK Pat please help!! What tire pressure should I run for fun track? Anything else should I do?

Pat R. 2006-10-19 12:53 PM

If the tires on your car are anything like the S02s that came on mine then they have pretty stiff sidewalls and you should be alright leaving them at the normal street pressures.

I have never been to the track or any track events, but am very interested in starting this next season. I was just curious if i would be able to run my STI even though i don't have a rollbar or any track experience yet. i would love to get out there monday and check out how things work. Any input would be grand.

Only convertibles have to worry about rollover protection. Your STi will be fine. Those with no track experience are welcome to this event according to Mike. You're likely to get an instructor in your car, but even if you don't, we'll be following single file behind an instructor in the beginner group. Bring a helmet though.

Shit, my first track day, I didn't get an instructor (even though I asked for one) til after I spun out at 100mph in the 2nd session (after passing sombody).

Jonny being 53% finished with Gran Turismo 4 doesn't count as "driving experience."

Im there to finish off the sport cups :D

doubleurx 2006-10-19 08:34 PM

This may be possible for me as well. I still haven't put the snow tires on yet. Do we need to sign up or just show up before 10.

I have no racing license, but I think they may remember me for better or worse!

cody 2006-10-19 08:59 PM

You don't need to sign up, but Mike asks that you call him, or instead you can just post up before mid-Sunday that you're going and I'll give him a tally of people who RSVP'd to this thread Sunday evening.

zpeed 2006-10-20 07:39 AM

Count me in Nat with S2000 beginner don't know anything class. Should we meet up to drive together?

NstyNik 2006-10-20 09:22 AM

I just put new tires on last week. How bad does track day affect tread life?

Nick Koan 2006-10-20 09:26 AM

Depends on the tires, but your tires will definitely take a hit.

Kevin M 2006-10-20 09:28 AM

They're not snow tires are they? If so, no track for you. They'll die a horrible death out there.

NstyNik 2006-10-20 09:32 AM

No they are Toyo. I have snow tires ready for winter. I just don't wana hurt the toyo's too bad that i would have to replace them and spend more cash come spring time.

M3n2c3 2006-10-20 11:38 AM

Since this event sounds fairly unstructured, I'd wait to start with either autocross or an actual Driver's School. It's always fun to make light of Cody's spin, but he got ridiculously lucky.

I haven't tracked my car so I'm not sure exactly what it does to treadlife, but I am certain that it punishes the ENTIRE car, especially the wear items (rotors, pads, tires, etc). Listening to folk like Scott and Dean talk about their cars makes it sound like you get a couple years' daily driving worth of abuse in a season or less of tracking. And I do know that they go through a lot of tires.

Of course, I'm forced to take the conservative approach to motorsports, as I'm racing my daily driver and can't really afford to have it out of service for more than a day. If you're not worried about the car much, then have at it. :D

zpeed 2006-10-20 11:51 AM

I use my daily car too all stock. Just have fun don't go all out.

NstyNik 2006-10-20 11:54 AM

Ya she's my daily driver as well. And with my payments and how expensive it is to replace such items, i might be throwing myself to the wolves if I go to the event. Damn it wouldbe nice to have an unlimited bank account....

That would be cool. I don't know of the best place to meet up though. I was thinking of being on my way out of Reno by 8:30.

zpeed 2006-10-21 09:14 AM

How about 9:00 somewhere on the way like wild water parking lot. The we can leave about 9:10.
