I don't know, changing a shock mid race and coming back through the field to finish in second yet still falling out of the top 12 in points is pretty interesting. :D

The glen should be fun today, though I don't like that qualifying was rained out.

But Boris gets to race in Bill Elliot's car. Bill is a class act to give up his seat for the team. Take that F1.... SNAP!

NASCAR needs to fix qualifying though. They could have fit it in, or at least run the 36-40+ cars in points. this top 35 stuff is BS. Make it top 12 and everybody else has to run for it and be flexible as to when it is and even make it an impound race if needed.

Qualifying is more important than 2 practices. Heck, roll it out of th truck, qualify and race... Busch does more or less.

P.S. I am getting sick of Robby Gordon. Won't admit he was an A-Hole and quoting rules from 3 years ago. Shut up and admit you were wrong.

Dean 2007-08-12 01:47 PM

Watkins Glen!!!!

Wow! Great race! Road courses rule!

Turn 1 = Spin and/or Win, depends on who and when???

Power sliding through the gravel on the last lap can get you a top 10, but only if you are in second when you do it!!!

Jr. loses an engine an Kurt ends up 11th. ouch.

Boris ends up 14th in Bill's car.

Harvick and Montoya duke it out.

Don't get this kind of entertainment from F1.

MattR 2007-08-12 02:07 PM

Harvick over-reacted as usual. Truex punted Montoya causing him to take out Harvick. Great race though. I am constantly reminded of how good J Gordon and Stewart are on RC's.

MattR 2007-08-12 02:08 PM

BTW, I think Boris would have run the race entirely differently if he were in it to win it. But the Woods Bros 21 car really needed a good points day to get back in to the top 35 in points, and Boris did a great job running smooth and steady.

I agree completely. He did exactly what they needed. He would lose 4 spots going into turn 1 after restarts keeping out of the fray and then take 2-5 laps to get them back. Even let Kurt or was it Robby go around rather than fighting with him.

It's pretty ridiculous. I know one of the engineers over at Michael Waltrip's operation and he said the qual rules have cost them getting into the field multiple times this year, when they would have gotten in purely on time like a normal race series.

And it rained....

And then it rained some more....

Maby we'll race on Tuesday. Nascar hasn't had a delay that caused them to race on Tuesday sense the 70s. I heard the RV area turned into a Mud Slingging Festival (Woodstock Nascar Style).

7am ESPN2. I just set my dvr to record "first take" + 2hours.

They are saying they could run Wednesday if they have to, otherwise it is November!?!?

Michigan in November. Ha, maby we'll see some more snow angels from Kurt Bush.

The trucks are starting at Bristol at the top of the hour. They're hoping for two wide racing with the new surface and banking. I think some equipment is still going to get messed up.

MattR 2007-08-22 05:25 PM

Oh yeah, it should be pretty crazy, I think the speeds are up quite a bit too, due to increased grip all around.

Dean 2007-08-22 07:07 PM

damn, what the H are they doing on wed.... I bet my dvr missed it... speed replay, here we come...

Joeyy 2007-08-23 11:31 AM

Yes!... They can finally pass without using there bumpers. Hope the great race that the trucks put on doesn't show up the Nextel boys. My only opinion, K. Bush needs to behave around trucks that are racing for points and the win.

Dean 2007-08-23 12:44 PM

 DVR caught it... Cool race. Looks Bristol will be much mroe interesting. As Daryl said, It is exactly the same only different.

If trucks can go 2 wide, I would look for the Busch or Nextel boys to try 3! Should be a good weekend of bumpin' and bangin'.

Joeyy 2007-08-24 02:21 PM

Busch Series qualifies faster then Nextel Cup again. Additionally, an ASA car kicked all there times with an almost 15 sec flat run on the new surface.

Dean 2007-08-25 08:43 PM

OK, Bristol has moved way up my favorite track list. 2 & 3 wide racing and green flag pit stops and battles all the way up and down the field and mostly clean racing! Long enough runs that enough people got lapped so the tiny pit lane was a mostly non-issue.

This can't be Bristol!

Great job redoing the track. I like the attention to detail as well. They dyed the lower part of the concrete black to keep the old look of the asphalt that had way less grip and the drivers hated.

Nick Koan 2007-08-25 10:28 PM

Looks like Jacques Villeneuve will be racing in the Nextel Cup next year, and doing a few races this year in Craftsman Truck Series.

More current information on Villenueuve after completing testing.

This "chase" is going to be good. 12 very good teams duking it out.

Kyle with the pit strategy to finish 4th and Boyer moving up 8 spots with the dominating win.

Ye hah!

sperry 2007-09-19 01:02 PM

Dale Jr. will be in the #88 Mt. Dew Amp car next season.

tysonK 2007-09-23 03:52 PM

first race for jacque villeneuve in NCTS!

looks like he had fun.

MattR 2007-09-23 05:47 PM

JV held his own, he's definately taking this thing seriously...

Also, in Cup, what was with the Talladega wreck at Dover...Damn.

tysonK 2007-09-23 05:59 PM

yeah that was massive

Dean 2007-09-23 07:52 PM

Just finished watching. That was quite a last 50 laps or so.

8 cars on the lead lap. Jeff Burton gets my vote for the MVP. Down 1 or more laps how many times and ends up 7th!!!

"Merchandise bearing the ``88'' was available on Earnhardt's Web site within an hour of the announcement."

Wow. The marketing/merchandising/hype machine that is NASCAR is unbelievable.
