Good point.

I was referring to people renting their investment properties because they can't sell them for what they owe and they're waiting for the market to turn around. Not people renting their investment properties because they can't afford the payments on them!

I guess I'm not sure how to tell them apart.

It's touchy. Scott down here is getting the boot because the owner can't afford the $430k loan on the house he's in; the bank is trying to sell it for $210.......tough to even think of that as a long-term investment.

Its a 30 year mortgage right? :p That sounds long term to me.

If Scott likes that house at all, he needs to buy it! A $430k house for $210k is a steal even in this market, and he won't have to move! Hell, his payments might even go down considering the low interest rates by buying it over renting it.

I think Van is in the process of buying his rental right now here in Reno too, IIRC.

Unfortunately, 210 isn't a steal because the neighboring houses are already under 200k and dropping.....heh.

I lived there for a year, but then it was called Shadow Mountain. The thing I liked about that apartment is the wood burning fireplace, it's awesome in the winter. The biggest problem I had was trying to arrange the living room to incorporate the fireplace, that and the secured guards who think all young people are drunken, dope addicts, who are glue sniffers.

Well, aren't they?

Except the ones out filleting steel targets with lead.

I hope you didn't get number 220. Bad things happened in there.

(Hey Austin... remember Bullock Lane? *shudder*)

I remember how the entire building would resonate when the locomotives stopped and idled right across the street.

Oh, plus all the roaches.

My bedroom would act as a bass box when the trains would idle. I had to open the window to "port" my room and stop stuff from sliding off my vibrating desk.
