But seriously, I was under the impression that EL headers spool a turbo better, otherwise why would anyone bother making EL turbo headers? |
lol my bad wasnt reading ahahah well my buddy put el on his 04 sti and he lost atleast 100 2 200 rpm of spool but then again he lives by the cobb ap like 70 % of subie owners do

Additionally, there are so many factors aside from the simply EL vs UEL aspect that would also affect spool. It could be likely EL headers hurt spool just because it means the exhaust gas cools more down the longer path... meaning that the EL headers should probably use a smaller diameter pipe than the shorter UEL headers to keep up velocity and protect the spool properties. |

Found this for some good reference

I would like to see some non-turbo header performance gain numbers.
|
I dont know exactly, but I do know that you lose a few horsepower on a UEL over an EL.
|
^Are you talking about turbo or N/A engines?
|
From what I understood, you don't lose power with uel, you just don't get as much as the equal length header.
|
UEL vs. EL is less important than good collector design, which pretty much all the aftermarket stuff has.

And we are talking about N/A motors. |
