We could setup a private IRC server on it, then try and find some freeware/oss java-applet based IRC client that would automatically connect to the private IRC server. If its a private server, and not on any of the major IRC networks, I don't think we'd have to worry about randoms jumping in and *not* talking about Subarus...

That's sorta what I had running on the old server... but it was proprietary and not IRC. I actually tried to move it over, but when it didn't work immediately, I figured... "meh, no one would ever use it anyway."

Whoa. I've been in IT for years, and in reading thru this, I realize how much I don't know. :oops: I think I picked up a little over half of what this means.
