A wedding that I "volunteered" to photograph. Can't believe I'm missing Solo 1 for this. Plus work wants me into all that weekend for overtime. I'm hoping to make it a short trip. Go up Friday night or Saturday morning and back saturday night. I'll have to see how that works. I might be stuck driving the crash mobile for the trip. ewww.

Solo 1 is not until Oct 2-3 you know? So you still have a week to play with.
|
that's the weekend I'm out of town :(

And Nick's are steel grey, aren't they? |
Dean,
Discount tire direct isn't selling the M3's this winter, so their out. Besides I already have the tires ordered. But getting rims for them is still a great idea! Just haven't completely decided on what to get. out of curiousity what does everyone think of these wheels. LINK I like them because they look industrial, but then I can't tell what is "rice" or just plain no good. |

Ah.. I see, never my mind then :? . The set that Deans recommends is out of stock in Nevada at the moment, so I keep watching for the email back from Subydude.

And they have some of the Bronze in stock in Sparks actually, just not 4 according to the web site. It only takes a day or two for them to et them from Arizona anyway... And they would probably mount the tires for free if you buy the rims. |

It called the 800 DT line and them asked about M3's before I posted it. I'll check on locating the wheels, but I don't want bronze. As for mounting, its free with the tires anyways.
Thanks Dean! :D |
Hey, Rotas for pennies over here..........

Gold Tarmac IIs! Go go go!
|
The wholesale site says they have 4 of the bronze Weapons in stock right now. When they get down to 4 wheels the retail site says less than 4, just in case they sell them. If you're really against bronze, you could have gunmetal shipped from AZ in 2 days for about $8 per wheel. 17X8 with a 46mm offset sounds like it will clear the Brembos, unless the spokes are curved in too much. $99 plus tax each with the wholesale discount. If I remember the weight on these is around 19 lbs. I'd call Paul to verify that they actually have 4 there, and go get those babies and save $200 over getting new Rotas. Although if you want to drive down to Subydude's place, $400 is a steal for any of those Rotas he's got.
|
Alright, after much input I've decided to get Rotas from Subydude and do a pickup. I think I'm going to get gunmetal SDR's, while the gold tarmac II's are my second choice. Now to order them. :D

NO PROBLEM i WON'T BE ABLE TO PICK THEM UP UNTIL AT LEAST OCT 2.
I'LL JUST GET THE WINTER TIRES PUT ON THE STOCK WHEELS. sorry about all caps again I was working. 8) |

It is done! I bought a set of Gun Metallic SDR's for winter. They'll be here by this weekend. Yeah. $495 shipped with lug nuts. :D
Thanks everyone for all your help, you all rock! |

Should look great! |

I got my wheels, their shipping is really fast less than 24 hours
.....but they forgot to include lug nuts in the packaging, so there's no way to bring them to the meet tonight. :( I have no patience when it comes to buying things. |
You mean aside from in your trunk? They won't fit with stock STI lugs?
|
Are you sure the lugs are not in one of the boxes...when Subydude sent me my last set of wheels, they had put them in one of the wheel boxes..threw me for a loop...
|
I have 20 of said lugs at my house but you would still be short 4 :(

when I bought my SDR's I got 20 lugs and 4 lockers, then I bought the 20 C-West lugs, so the 20 are just sitting around :D |

He forgot to put them in the box. They will be here tomorrow. May not really matter though because the tire shop still hasn't gotten my tires in yet. |

Make sure they are the narrow spline drive lugs or you will scratch the new wheels.
Congratulations! |

I also have 20 of the "tunner" hex drive lugs that are not the greatest but will fit just about anything if you need them... P.S. did your wheels come with solid valve stems? What color? I have some nice blue aluminum ones if you want... I'm looking for Red... |
Quote:
I can't recall what color valve stems. Come to think of it does anyone know if they are supposed to come stock with wheels when you order. I wasn't asked anything on them. I'd definately be interested in the valve stems, if you could bring them tonight just incase mine didn't come with any. This way I won't have any more chances for holdups. |
It all depends... Some do, some don't. Solid stems are cool, and opinions vary, but I think they are well suited for the street. They should just be checked every time you change wheels for good/soft seals/washers.
Some racers say the rubber stems are bad because they can get cut/torn out with a little rubbing... I think anything that can hurt a rubber one is just as likely to bend/deform the solid ones... My race wheels have rubber because the get changed every set of tires. I like the look of the matching Lugs and stems eric and others have... That's why I'm looking for red ones, or at least silver for the RPF1s... I'll bring them tonight... |
  I guess I meant to say 16
:alien: |
Solid stems SUCK ASS... because they're held on inside by nuts that inevitably come loose. Which means, you'll have a loose piece of metal bouncing around inside the tire eventually. It's happened to me more than once...
|
Properly installed solid stems do not suck ass, or anything else...
If the nuts fall off, it is because they were not installed properly! |

Hahaha! That made me laugh...not sure why |
