I'm not saying the price isn't justifiable, it is Laguna Seca after all, I'm just saying I can't afford the weekend.

Also, RFR may have been $200... but it's also local to most of us. Monterey is an expensive place to stay for 3 days!

But if enough of us went it could be reasonable, considering food is covered. Of course there is the missing work factor and gas.

It is fixed... Most likely 2 run sessions for all groups with Beginners gett ing extra time for instructors to drive their cars. And I will be teaching the classroom sessions. :disco:

For Laguna, I have a room at the Days Inn for <$50/night with 2 doubles if someone goes and wants to share. Under a mile from the main hotel on the same street.

Last I knew nobody was going to Buttonwillow, so I only got a single. If someone is going, I'd be willing to change and split it.

MattR 2005-02-23 12:10 PM

Hey Dean, at Buttonwillow (If your staying at Motel 6), make sure you request a room away from the highway side of the building...My room was facing I-5 last time, and it was LOUD...

Dean 2005-02-23 12:26 PM

Hey, is anybody thinking about Pahrump in April? Cheapest of the bunch so far at $315... Very neat track IMHO. No other course I have been on has the unique technical sections like it does.

In Buttonwillow itself, or in Lost Hills? We always stay at the one in Lost Hills and it doesn't seem that bad..

MattR 2005-02-23 02:21 PM

the one in Buttonwillow...Right near the truck stop...I imagine Lost Hills is a little better...

MattR 2005-03-01 09:53 AM

Dean, Next week is the week...Hey, are you by chance running any in-car footage? I can loan you my camera mount if needed, I'd love to see some more track video from Buttonwillow.

Dean 2005-03-01 10:00 AM

I will be running video, I never did post my THill stuff. Anybody still interested?

Yes, I'm always interested in track footage, especially from a similar car...If you wouldn't mind...

I learn to drive Cole Trickle Style, "ESPN, the coverage is excellent"

Bump for on-line membership form... Edited first post

Audi Club Membership is required for these events. If you are signing up as a new member, I would appreciate it if you put "Dean Benz" on the form in the "How did you hear about the Club?" field so I get credit for the annual membership contest. Thanks

MattR 2005-03-14 02:52 PM

Dean, what is the deadline for signing up at Pahrump? I don;t see a cut-off day listed anywhere. I'm trying to work it out so I can go.

Dean 2005-03-14 02:56 PM

No deadline unless it fills up. You are already into the "Late Fee" zone... I would suggest you get it in at least a week before the event...

Laguna Seca

It was an absolute blast. The Audi Club did a great job on the whole deal. They were very organized and on time for every event. Dean did a great job in the classroom. Not to inflate Dean's ego (insert comment here), but he really is one smooth driver, even running his car on snow tires he was friggin fast.

The first day was rain all day. The track was extremely slick. Many people getting sideways and a few off track. The RE-070's are definately better in the dry. I was sliding through just about every turn. The corkscrew was downright scary, but turn 9 right after it just about made me crap my pants! The second day was dry and fast. It was great to have both days be so different. Even the excersise in the morning of the first day were a blast in the rain.

The in car instruction was great. My instructor had a geat demeanor and taught me a crap load over the two days.

Tons of fun. Thanks for posting these events Dean.

You are welcome... Glad you had a good time.

Snow tires, and forced upshifts to avoid the noise limit force you to be smooth, and minimize braking. (94.1db with silencer...)I'm really glad I had the snows on the way home on Sunday...

I could have changed back to the Azenis, but didn't want to ruin it for everyone else... :) (It stoped raining about 30 seconds after I dropped the jack after takinng off the Azenis Sat. AM.)

doubleurx 2005-03-23 10:11 AM

I just got an e-mail that they had a professional photographer taking pics of all of us. Here's the link. Dean: do they do this for every event. Very cool!

Just so you know, I did ask if I could leave it on. I was told that would not be a good idea.

That is also the cleanest you will ever see my car.

If it is, I'm all signed up and paid... man, I just droped *way* too much cash on track day registrations between this and TMR's event.

Dean 2005-05-07 05:44 PM
