I can tell, the extended crappy weather has affected everyone...now, that will be $241.75 for a 30-second psych consultation.

I recieved word that the Intercooler is going to be replaced, which I'm happy about. Originally, they were going to have A1 radiator repair it, but it was too heavily damaged.

Anyway, I'll see it next week sometime I guess.

This is at Lithia, right? How long have they had it so far?

Mine was in for 16 days, where it was originally estimated to be 3-1/2 weeks, but Concours went to extraordinary measures to get it done before Points event #1.

MattR 2005-05-11 07:38 PM

It went in on May 2, so I'm on approx the same time frame...I'm really in no hurry I guess, I want it to be done right. I just miss it. I'm looking forward to seeing it though.

Anyway, I should have the car back Wednesday. Waiting on a couple of parts now, intercooler mainly. But we'll see.

MattR 2005-05-20 04:43 PM

So, the car is pretty much done, I was planning on picking it up today, and I called Lithia ahead just to make sure...The shop foreman goes..."Oh man..We screwed up!, you were supposed to get a new windshield huh?"....

I'm like,"yeah, that was the one most severley damaged pieces on the car", and its on the first page of the estimate! :x HOW THE FUCK CAN THE COCKSUCKERS FORGET TO DO THE GODDAM MOTHER FUCKIN WINDSHIELD?

Even if the paint job is great, I will never go to the body shop there again...I swear to God it's like no one is running this place...5 times now, I've been told I will get a call back, and have had to call back on my own, nice CS. They don't plan ahead, they don't pre-order anything, they are slow as fuck, what else? ...

I pick the car up Monday , So we'll see how it looks. It better be fucking cherry for being in there 23 DAYS!!!!!!!!!

BOO 2005-05-20 04:46 PM

Damn thats like a MONTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be a bit upset too!! But good things come to those who WAIT!!! ;) ..

Just making the wait time a bit better for you Matt.. lol

Sounds exactly like when my car was there. Took forever, they should have ordered all the parts in advance, never got called back. Then they scratched the tint on one of the rear windows while they were replacing the front one, and tried to tell me that it was there before. I got sick of being without the car, so I took it back without the dash panels in place. When they finally oredered the right parts, I just installed them myself so I wouldn't have to give them my car again. The whole reason I took it to Lithia in the first place is because I figured they would have the experience of knowing which parts to order and be able to get Subaru parts faster than an independent shop. I guess I was wrong.

Exactly my thought process too..I had a lot to do besides body work, so I figured it would go way smotther there...wrong.

If Bill Mitgard is still in charge of service there, you should call him or go talk to him & let him know what happened. He has been a good guy and a help to us in the past.

I feel bad for you guys, my work went so smoothly and I got the car back earlier than promised, and with great quality work on the paint and parts replacements. I still need to go back for the touchup work, but am totally happy with their work and customer service so here's another plug for them:

Concours Body Shop

Concours was one my options through AAA, in hindsight I wish I would have given them a shot. Oh well, next time I guess.

I fuckin hate Lithia, still no car

Tell me about it... 'course my issue isn't w/ the shop, it's w/ the whole missing driveshaft situation. I may have to cancel the TMR track day... the cost of renting a Spec Miata is way off the charts. Like $1400 for the weekend. That's not gonna happen.

Yeah... that's what I thought...$700/day to rent a spec miata is a little steep. $1400 buys a complete set of Hoosiers, brake pads/rotors, fuel, and would easily cover any wear and tear on the motor/tranny caused by 2 days of track. And then there's still $700 left over.

Not to knock ET, 'cause if she's getting people to pay that much more power to her, but I'd rather eat the cost of the track day than pay that much to rent a car. 'Course the RX-7 she's got is a bit cheaper at $500/day, but that still stings the wallet too much to consider it an option.

And as much as I'd like a little miata for tracking, I don't fit in 'em stock... nor would they let them out onto the course w/o a rollbar.

Dean 2005-05-24 08:55 AM

I think JerryC is trying to put together the funds to go to this weekend's event, maybe he can take your spot.

Have you driven one? I was really surprised when I drove one a couple weeks ago, there wasn't any less room than in the Mustang. Apparently you can fit pretty big people in them once you prep it right, there's guys that are mid-6' racing in Spec Miata. You just have to mount the seat to the floor and all the way back to the bulkhead.

ScottyS 2005-05-24 09:18 AM

Like in a kayak that's a little too small, your knees might wedge under the dash if you need to bail inverted......

I cannot fit in a stock Miata... I can't let the clutch out w/o hitting the steering wheel w/ my knee... I've tried.

A Spec Miata on the other hand, with race seats, should be large enough, but I haven't had the opertunity to drive one.

The Mustang's not too bad... those seats slide back and my head doesn't hit the ceiling.

In a Miata, if the seat's all the way back so my legs fit, it has to be tilted forward to the point that my head's well above the windshield. Whereas if I have the seat relined enough for my head to fit, the seat has to be slid forward so much that I can't let out the clutch. The lack of a back seat in the Miata is actually what makes it too small.
