TRKWHR is a pretty good 6 letter plate. What would I tell the DMV it means though? "TrekWare, it's my outdoor clothing line".

If I has a winter beater, I'd get SNOW HO. Wait, maybe I should get those plates for the Legacy.. ;)

Sperry, you should get WINNAR!

you might need a small amount of touch up paint to make the hand look that way...

Kevin M 2006-01-23 10:51 PM

I got it. TRKSLT. It's for your Lake-Tahoe based 4WD club. ;)

Kevin M 2006-01-23 10:52 PM

I'm thinking about getting HNDBSKT for the Miata. As in, "Where am I going, and why am I in this handbasket?"

That would be redundant.

cn't speel

I went to the DMV yesterday to ask if the plates would be mailed or did I have to pick 'em up where I ordered them.

It took the info lady 10 minutes to give me a bitchy "It can take up to four weeks to get your plates."

...which wasn't even my question in the first place..

And then finally (upon asking the same question a second time).. "Custom orders get mailed to the customer."

I dunno, but if your first stop in a building like that is the information counter, you'd hope the people'd be a little more helpful.

Jeez, I'd make every effort if I were there - it'd be my freakin' job.

Haha, I coulda told you that, and I wouldn't have been a bitch.

Yeah, if you order in person at the DMV, the old plates are surrendered immediately and the new get mailed straight to you. It can take up to a month. You can also order plates by mail, but they get shipped to the DMV (again, in about a month), and then the DMV mails you notification that they are in. Then you have to pick them up in person and surrender your old plates.

I did the latter because I wanted to a) put off having to sit in the DMV, and b) not be plate-less for a month. :P

All I know is that when I tried to order my '82 style plates, I never got anything, no notification, no phone call, no nothing. I guess when you tell the person "I need to change my address" they think you mean "I need to change my address on my titles, drivers license, and everything else, except for my mailing address because I'd like to make sure you can't send me stuff like license plates."

Yeah, I think an order for plates simply uses the address given with the order. It's the DMV, man. It's gotta be a pain in the ass.

Well, I ordered the plates *in person* at the same time I was getting the address on the titles for my cars changed.

Then maybe they just hate you. Or maybe it's a conspiracy, and you were chosen at random to have your order screwed up. :P

GC8.Love 2006-02-07 06:06 PM

Eh. I got mine, but they didn't space out GC8 and Luv, so it's all crammed together.

I'll go fix it later...
