Hahahah Ridin Dirty.

sperry 2006-09-27 07:06 PM

The only issues I see are the proximity of "the hub converter" and "the people's elbow"... we'll have to becareful w/ the timing of the second car to make sure two people aren't driving towards each other through there.

Also, the finish points through the slalom, so if someone loses the brakes, they may be headed straight into the next car at the line if the starter isn't heads-up.

Other than that, I can't wait to drive it! It looks like there are lots of spots for line selection, which helps seperate the men from the boys, and lets people "color outside the lines" to better suit their car's handling.

Dean 2006-09-27 08:14 PM

Looking good.

I assumed the finish is out at the last pointer/gate. Plenty of time to shut down before the left.

Is the slalom optional, or forced?

Sunday, the lights would ahve to e out by the second to last cone unless you add runoff.

Don't forget to make sure you have a place for the bus.

MikeK 2006-09-27 08:15 PM

WTF the 5 sided octagon has 6 sides now!

Slalom is forced right.

We will look into all of the other comments made.

Thanks for the help.

Is there any work to be done out at the course on Thursday? The wife put a hold on my Friday. She said,"What this is becoming a three day thing now". Well I gave in and said no it will be two day event, so I'm out for Friday, sorry Tyson. I probably would have not been much help anyway. :(

tysonK 2006-09-28 06:17 AM

It's OK man. We'll need help taking down and all that crap also. Loading the bus on Sunday etc...

JonnydaJibba 2006-09-28 08:18 AM

You should call teh octagon teh sexagon instead.

MPREZIV 2006-09-28 09:48 AM

looking forward to trying to make myself sick through the "octagon"... :D

MattR 2006-09-28 10:44 AM

Or the seccsagon!

tysonK 2006-09-28 03:50 PM

peronally I like the hub convertor.

Dean 2006-09-28 03:56 PM

Since the weather should be nice, I will probably stick around in the afternoon Saturday and help out, etc.. Anybody want a instructor / co-driver for a couple laps in the afternoon? Depending on the number of runs we get, I could split it up between a couple people.

I could take each person through a lap as I drive, and then critique one of your laps as a passenger?

Just a thought if anybody is interested...

We could also do soemthing if we get fun runs...

Joeyy 2006-09-28 04:17 PM

I'll take you up on the instruction. It has been a few months and a couple events sense you last graced my passenger seat with your wisdom.

Pat R. 2006-09-28 04:51 PM

We are planning to have fun runs on Saturday.

MattR 2006-09-28 04:53 PM

If I make it out (I am really trying, need to do a few things) I'll take you up on that too. I'll take all the help I can get.

Joeyy 2006-09-29 02:51 PM

Hey Cody, are you going to run that SM Cheese Wagon in October? :?:

cody 2006-09-29 02:53 PM

That's the plan! :D

SM?

A1337STI 2006-10-02 03:59 PM

I'de love some instruction Dean !

'much to learn, in the ways of the force, this one has'

Pat R. 2006-10-03 07:25 PM

So now that we're only a few days from the weekend, who is in for helping out on Friday? There will be free trailer rides around the course and commemorative t-shirts for all those that help!

qksubi 2006-10-03 07:35 PM

If I am home Im there!

MattR 2006-10-03 07:41 PM

I should be free in the afternoon Pat, what time are you guys heading out there?

Pat R. 2006-10-03 07:52 PM

I think 10:00ish is a good target.

MattR 2006-10-03 07:58 PM

Okay, I will do my best.

MikeK 2006-10-03 08:17 PM

I'll be there

Pat R. 2006-10-03 08:35 PM

There is some construction in progress so the normal gate into the airport will be closed. There is an alternate gate to the west that will be open.

zpeed 2006-10-03 09:57 PM

If it not too busy at work I can show up around 2pm. Is it too late?

Kevin M 2006-10-03 11:19 PM

Yes, you need to be there by 11:30 AM to be sure to get into registration before tech closes. Sometimes you can get away with showing up as late as 12:45, but that's rare, and you don't want to count on us running late, because then we won't be, of course. ;)

On a related note... does anybody know what class a Hemi Charger is in?

Are you talking about Friday for setup help, or Sat/Sun for competition?

I'm talking about Friday. Sorry, I'm not clear on that.
I believe, on Saturday I'm in the morning group, work 1st run 2nd.

Joeyy 2006-10-04 07:47 AM

Ok, start time 10 a.m. on Friday. Estimated time for rapping things up on Friday so I can tell the ball and chain. With the new black car she is driving, her heart has opened up to letting me play a little on Friday.

Pat R. 2006-10-05 08:51 AM

At the meeting last night we decided to start at 11:00 AM tomorrow instead of 10:00. If you were planning on being there at 10, don't.

Dean 2006-10-05 09:20 AM

If John shows up, don't let him convince you to use more cones!

You can go a long way between elements if you provide the right visual cues. A single double pointer coned gate between elements is often enough to keep people headed the right direction and keeps them from taking things to wide.

Lots of lay downs they can see from far away also help.

Can't wait for the weekend.

Cool, I'm excited except I dunno really what all that meant. Basically less cones but have them point a way for people to go. Whoopee!

I think I'm below the level of being an AutoX noob. I have like -47 intelligence and 0 skill and +170 confusion. If we were attempting to take over Golgaroth you wouldn't want me in your party. I don't even know how to give people stuff! Lawlz (sorry, south park was funny last night).

Nick Koan 2006-10-05 10:22 AM

I think the 'John' that Dean was refering too was Mr. Evans, not Mr. daJibba.

DUH! Why would I, a person who has never autocrossed ever before, tell Dean to use more cones?

Kevin M 2006-10-05 10:26 AM

:concur:

Joeyy 2006-10-06 04:18 PM

How did everything turn out after I had to leave at 1:00? The course was looking good when I left. I'm sure after the white lines were put down the visuals improved. Thanks for letting me help and I'll see you early in the morning tomarrow.

Pat R. 2006-10-06 06:32 PM

Thanks for the help! It ended up looking pretty good even though the Airport Director mad us move teh octagon.

Hopefully the rain doesn't wash away all of our work.

Aw you jinxed it!

That was a fun track. I don't think I've ever had so much fun in my car since I bought it.

ivanko 2006-10-07 07:49 PM

When does the first run group start on Sunday morning?

Thanks.

You should probably shoot for starting 8-8:30ish. I hope we can get the drivers meeting right at 9, and get the show started early (on time).

Let me see if it works again: Hopefully a busload of topless blonde chiropractors offering free 'adjustments' doesn't show up tomorrow.
