Never... We are the mailmen of auto racing. Rain, snow, tornadoes, etc... Lovelock in the rain 2 weeks ago was one of our best autocrosses ever!

Dean 2007-10-05 05:18 PM

And just a reminder. Plan on Drinks, Dinner, BSing... Saturday at the Flowing Tide on North McCarren.

5:30ish depending on when we get done out at Stead.

MattR 2007-10-05 05:46 PM

Dean, I will be out as early as possible to help Kevin.

cody 2007-10-05 07:19 PM

It's not going to rain this weekend.

I'll be there bright eyed and bushy tailed around 7 to help set up for a bit then help Nick with registration.

WRX06TR 2007-10-05 10:33 PM

I will probably be there around 7 or 7:30, ready to help...

M3n2c3 2007-10-06 11:37 PM

That was a ridiculously awesome course, and running it on my ze512s was really entertaining. The extra feedback and slip versus a set of 615s made the octagon a real blast to jam through. :D

I'm glad I made this one.

MPREZIV 2007-10-07 01:32 PM

HUGE kudos to Dean and Kevin! That course was SUPER fun!!

I did some doriftoring, just not where I had planned...

wrxkidid 2007-10-07 04:50 PM

Definatly had some fun both days. Kinda a bummer about my buddies car but oh well.

I had fun with my spin.

Yeah, that spin was pretty awesome man.
Thanks for all the rides folks.

The Camaro was a freaking blast to drive.

Kevin M 2007-10-07 06:26 PM

The Legacy Gt was a blast to beat you all in. Again. :D

Dean 2007-10-08 07:44 AM

I'm glad everyone liked the course(s). Challenging yet VERY FUN was our goal.

We really appreciate everyone's help setting up, tearing down, etc. It is amazing how well things run and how fast they get done when you have great help.

Thank You all.

Mission accomplished in my opinion. Even on my way to 13 cones in Sue's car on Saturday, I never even had a thought about wishing the course was different. Many drivers complimented us on how much fun it was (including John Evans and Randy Jones!!!) and nobody out and out said they wished it was different, although many drivers would have been happy without the Octagon. I personally didn't mind losing it, but I also didn't think it was a bad element. At least we foun d somehting other than the de rigeur sweeper down the back. It's more fun at the finish! :D

Plus infinity factorial! We set new records for tear-down both days thanks to all the help we got. Mike K., Nick, Derrek, Robbie, Cory, Cody, Debbie and more I'm forgetting unfairly gave a bunch of help from friday setup to sunday teardown.

cody 2007-10-08 08:41 AM

Awesome weekend! Thanks everyone!

k-dogg39 2007-10-08 08:44 AM

Great course! Wish I could have made it out Sunday too...

dknv 2007-10-08 10:34 AM

Thanks Kevin and Dean, for chairing a great season-ending weekend!
I really enjoyed the slalom action on Saturday, and on Sunday I had so much fun driving the Miata, foot-to-the-floor for nearly the entire course.
Rachel said she thought the courses were Awesome, too. She has caught the 'bug', I mean, the passion for autox. :)

Rachel has improved an incredible amount from the start of the year. She ended up being the fastest novice on Sunday!

Hey, I gotta update the website tonight or tomorrow night... will you have results for me?

zpeed 2007-10-08 02:16 PM

I wish I make it ontime for Sat Morning. But my cousin he hit the snow on the way up here Friday night. He did not wake up til late on Sat. We only went out for Sat afternoon. It was really fun being only one auto-x for me this year. Can't wait to see other driver times. I almost in the 49 sec. just almost

Tonight. I did a check for misspelled names for the whole season and found some errors that I need to fix.

Kevin M 2007-10-08 03:05 PM

Did anybody happen to get a rough count of how many entries we had each day?

Nick Koan 2007-10-08 03:07 PM

On Sunday there were about 45 people in open PAX and 10 or so in Ladies. This doesn't count the people who ran in RNP or Novice.

On Saturday, I'd guess about 20 more or so.

Don't really know though, I'm just pulling numbers off the top of my head (and out my ass)

Sat 79 people, 90 drivers
Sun 85 people, 103 drivers

Wait... how are there less people than drivers again? Was that 11 robots on Sat, and 18 robots on Sun?

MattR 2007-10-08 03:47 PM

Drivers= entrants, so you can be an entrant more than once if you RNP, etc.

You can be a driver more than once per day, but you only get to be a person once. OK, the reincarnated can be a person more than once, but not of driving age more than once per day. ;)

Yes

Joeyy 2007-10-08 04:50 PM

Vick had a cool class chapmionship hat on the other day from a SM class win. Any chance that we had any made for this year?

Sounds like you just volunteered to take care of season trophies to me. ;)

Seriously, Matt needs help with them and if you have an interest, I'm sure he would appreciate the help.

And I don't think it was for SM.

Nick Koan 2007-10-08 05:18 PM

It was. 2004 I think.

MattR 2007-10-08 06:51 PM

Actually, randy and Peggy Jones agreed to take care of awards, I really owe them one. I'm going to help them as best I can. I'm sure Randy would still aprreciate any help if someone wants to assist.

wrxkidid 2007-10-08 08:15 PM

I am sitting waiting for these results to see how i did saturday in Novice, i know i got smacked in TSM saturday but thats ok.

As soon as I get home from work.

And after I finish my write-up for the newsletter.

So... 5am maybe.

wrxkidid 2007-10-09 09:18 PM

Results are up.

I thought I did well saturday but Rachel smacked me by a full 2 seconds, and the red Evo beat me by 0.622 seconds :(

Sunday I knew I got owned but I still had fun.

Now I have 6 months to get soem tires and suspension.

WRX06TR 2007-10-09 09:42 PM

Wow, I did pretty good on Sunday...not so much on Sat. I know it is the novice class and the guy is still learning, but a WRX shouldnt be anywhere near a Lotus Exige....

Emily did pretty good too, all she has to do is ride with one of you guys in an STi and she cuts seconds off her time. I guess she just needs to see what lines to take and where that car can accelerate and brake.

Thanks again Dean and Kevin, both courses were a blast. Hopefully next year I will have some decent tires.

MattR 2007-10-10 06:52 AM

Those results make me go ????? My best run in Vick's Mini Saturday would have put me 4th in overall PAX that day, damn I want that car.

Also, I somehow held on to 6th in PAX this year, I have a feeling next year will be even tougher.

Race tires.
I still think it's better to learn to autox on street tires, it gives more opportunity to learn discipline. You did great this year!

Kevin M 2007-10-10 09:01 AM

Yeah, the best thing that happened to me was running this year in a wagon with no suspension mods (well, RSB) and being under-tired. You should convince Rachel to run the Legacy or something on good but not awesome street tires (like MXs or RS2s or something) because it will make her faster.

I'm trying to fast-track her, so she can run some National events next year.
Matt, Sunday right? (If I ran open pax on Sat., it looks like I would've been 4th, with a 38.264.)
Also, great job to Carrie for first in Ladies pax on Sat, and 2nd on Sunday, finishing above Patty!

On saturday in Vick's mini you would have been 20th, not 4th. On sunday your best run was actually in Randy's AS corvette, so the "TDSP" pax factor isn't accurate because you were switching cars. If you use the "AS" pax factor on your best time your pax time is 31.623 which puts you in 17th.

I plan on winning pax in F-Prepared (on street tyres).

MattR 2007-10-10 09:26 AM

Ahhh! I are retarded, I looked at it too quickly and saw that time and didn;t think about the vette!! Oops..

Oh, and yes Kevin, I didn't so much pass Bob as hold my position. But I can't say I did much more than "back in" to the finish this year, kind of ended on a slow note as far as I'm concerned.

It's a long season, no reason she can't finish it in your car next year after getting incredibly instructive seat time in a softer, slower, less sticky car. But then again, I can see where I might trade a little extra skill for more seat time in your car, which is apparently really really fun to drive.

That's true, I noticed your pax points were much higher from when you were on stickies. I bet Randy Jones won't believe it though.
