I haven't heard from anyone (Dean). I'm out of here around 5:30-5:45 (I work downtown) so if nobody has told me where to drive by then, I'll set my sites for home.

Sorry, I went to see 9 with my buddy and his two kids after moving his HDTV...
Wed. maybe? Cody can't go... Is that good or bad? |
Are we having a meet tomorrow? If so where and when, I want to try to make one.

First post is still correct. |

And, aren't you missing something rather important? |
I stopped by Rail City today and was not impressed. Ale House is OK, but nothing to right home about and shares air with the smokey casino. The restaurant/buffet is in it's own room, but also nothing to right home about.
I heard that "The Fourth Turn" location across from Lithia Subaru is now a Jack's Coffee Shop with a twist. It is open for dinner and has a bar... Might be an option and we can heckle the Lithia guys... |
I agree with your assessment of Rail City. You are totally write.

Indeed, wright you are Ken.

GSR has ads on about a new Sports Bar opening... Anybody up to check it out early next week???
|
Mike and I checked the new GSR Xtreme sports bar out. Food was decent, but KRZQ was there with the amps turned up talking over the football game, so it was not the best of examples.
Menu isn't bad, but not as varied as Sully's and stupidly printed on a snowboard. Waitresses are pretty hot. Prices are typical. All the "sandwiches" and a 10oz burger w/fries is $9. Extra toppings are $.50 each. Appetizers come in three sizes each. $5/$8/$10 I think. Drinks are $2, Mike's Corona was $4.50. Mike had a salad, I had the deep $8 fried ravioli. Both were pretty good. not sure I got $8 worth of ravioli though. Not sure if we can get it, but there is a nice upper section behind the lower bar that would be nice. Need to go check it out on a weeknight. I also had a thought that maybe we should make it a SECCS/SCCA meet wherever, every Wed. with it being at Austin's on the first Wed. for the SCCA meeting... Could bring out a few more people which would not hurt given our more recent turnout. Just some thoughts. |

Couple more thoughts. have not been in them yet. Anybody eaten at them?
PJ & Co. 1590 S. wells. (2 for one coupons in most every paper/mailer) Coach's BBQ 1499 N. Wells (UNR discounts) Baldini's Sports Casino (2 for ones and a few restaurant choices including the "The Brickyard" |

PJ & Co. has great food but we'll have to check out their parking during the week. Wednesday is Bike Night according to their website, so as long as we steer clear of that, it might work. I think Matt mentioned that the club used to meet there. |

We did Coaches once I thought... but I don't remember it on N. Wells... I think they have a second location? Either way, the food was mediocre and not cheap IIRC. But it was probably 3 years ago or more since we tried it. |
Different Coach's I think. You are thinking of Coach's on Virginia & Mt. Rose where Kragen used to be midtown. This is Coach's BBQ across from the livestock/event center.
Too bad on PJ's. Did we meet there? I thought that was some place on Virginia, not Wells. We ate outside as I recall? Right place? Anybody up to check some places out this week? |

OK, scratch Coach's BBQ. Just BBQ, and not particularly appealing.
Baldini's would be decent with food options, TVs and car themed Brickyard if it didn't smell like a a cross between an armpit and a really bad cigar. Since they have reconfigured Wells, there might be parking options at PJ's. The Paul Mitchell Academy is probably closed, and there is a street that is no longer a street with parking spaces right next to it. Anybody want to check it out on a Tuesday night? It is a bit off the freeway, but sounds like a place people like. |
I used to live about 4 blocks from there. I wouldn't be very excited about going there for meets.
|
No way I'm parking in that lot at night. It'll be like Thursday night farmers market for the local car stereo thieves.
|
OK, search continues. I give up on casinos.
Oh, the place that replaced Sullivan's, "Rub's Pub and Grille" is dead. I keep forgetting to go by the old 4th turn location and check it out. |
Dean, did you check out Coach's BBQ? I saved a flyer from them because I like good bbq now and then, and wanted to check them out. Besides BBQ items, their flyer menu has chicken wings, 'homemade' fried chicken and catfish. Also, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, sweet potato pie. 25% discount for UNR students on Wed/Thu. And something called 'BBQ House Bonus Bucks' (maybe they are affiliated with the BBQ House).
|
Yes. They have other stuff, but the menu is very limited, and it is not a particular appealing place.
|
We need to try and find somewhere in or nearly in the McCarran loop, that would be ideal, but I've been looking and nothing seems to fit the bill.
|
As suggested before - the Hacienda and Flowing Tide combo on NW McCarren. The Hollywood Video there is closed down, so there is a decent sized vacant parking lot within short walking distance.
|
This is true. I heartily recommend a pseudo-meet to test this idea.
|
Tide would be great, and we had a contact there at one point, but any UNR game Thursday, the place is going to be packed...
|
Flowing Tide tends to be a little expensive. We used to have meets there and that was a complaint back then. They've only gotten more expensive. Figure $15 for a burger, drink, tax and tip.

I agree with either of these......just my 2 cents i would actualy show up :D |

As for PJ's, I think parking anywhere on Wells is kind of sketchy. I don't even like going down there in my beater 99 Accord
|
I really like the current meet location , though I'm assuming some peeps are looking for a change of food..
what's that place in the atlantis with really good roast beefs ? that could be a maybe... Little philidelphia cheese steaks. the owner used to do some racing and chatted with Cody and I once lunch... but its small , not much parking, or food vareity... |
Jack's Dinner across from Lithia Subaru is not an option. :( Breakfast only, 7:00am - 4:00PM Looks liek a pretty decent breakfast place though.
|
I know I have never been to a meet (you will see me in the near future, I promise) But I just thought that Pierce's Pub off Mae Anne and Robb would be a pretty good spot. Their food is better than Bully's and the parking lot there is huge with minimal traffic at night.
Only draw back is the place is not huge and no pool table :(.... just my 2cents. |
Went to Fuddruckers tonight and talked with a shift leader, and got the General Manager's card.
Food is good, menu is not quite a varied as Sully's, but close. You can get a burger, fries and a drink/BEER for under $10 which I think was a goal and you can eat for a lot less. In addition to great burgers, they have salads, chicken, steak sandwich, chicken strips, loaded baked potato, kids meals, etc... They have a "party room" we can reserve for free with a TV or he said we could probably change one of the others on a Tuesday or Thursday night if the room was taken. Tues. and Thurs. are also pretty quiet or so he said. The big room is a little loud, but not bad. The Menu for the most part. It is a little far east, but right off the freeway. This may be the best option we have seen in a while. At least a change of location. Anybody else tried it? |
Buttfuckers would be half as far of a drive for me. :)
|
...and twice the fun!
|
|
I will never be able to make a meet at Fuddruckers on time. I'd need it moved back to 7pm, and even then it's pushing it.
Plus, and Eric will probably poke my eye for saying this, I'm not a big fan of Fuddruckers. It's like the hamburger version of Chuck-E-Cheese, but you have to serve yourself. I dunno... maybe the Fuddruckers in Pleasanton just sucks more than the rest? |
There's a new bar and grill called Woody's on McCarran between Glendale and Greg in Sparks, which actually ends up being pretty centrally located. I haven't had a chance to try it but it looks okay. Decent parking too.

There are some advantages to everyone paying for their own food up front and the "serve yourself" drinks and awesome condiment bar in many respects are a plus for me and Kevin will only have to blame himself if his drink is empty. :) Like I said, the food was pretty good. Matt's place also sounds interesting, and the place over on Robb might be an option. I haven't been in there in a while, but if they got rid of smoking, Cue and Cushion might be an option. |
I'm pretty sure you can't smoke in Cue and Cushion. I was there a couple months ago and everyone was going outside to smoke.
