I saw Jonny's car yesterday parked on the corner of Ralson/Codel/Imperial when I was walking to school.

cody 2006-03-01 11:36 PM

I saw a black STI with the plate, "BYYOURV8" on Virginia tonight. Anyone here?

MattR 2006-03-02 06:08 AM

I think it's "8YOURV8", I've seen that guy, but he's not on this site.

MPREZIV 2006-03-02 07:17 AM

He's a street racer. Always revs at me trying to race. He must think I'm stupid! Even if I did want to go street race, I would have to be a MORON to try running an STI!

Cute Pete, real cute. I am hella sick and got sent home early from work so I went to the gf's house to hang out.

cody 2006-03-02 09:14 AM

Ah, okay, I wasn't positive on the plate, and that's actually a much better idea for a plate. He did make sure he passed me on the way to his red arrow where he showed me how to stop real fast.

That's pretty lame if he's reving at other Imprezas. Besides, the RS's strength is obviously aesthetics. :P

Yeah, there are some Subie owners who are assholes. I think it's the combination of a fairly cheap, turbo'd and awd car that entices previous Honda owners.

Haha you're probably right, I do see you parked there all the time probably becuase I live next door. Stop by next time my car is there.

 You're prolly right.

DARKSTI 2006-03-02 09:45 AM

I know sometimes I throw a rev at someones car I like (especially when i had the cobra and the loud exhaust). Its not always wanting a race, just like saying nice subie. Just my .02 cents

cody 2006-03-02 09:48 AM

^^^^I do that too, but I make sure to roll down my window and wave so they know I'm not an asshat.

Yah, I lol'd the first time I heard it too. Good eye too.

MPREZIV 2006-03-02 10:44 AM

this guy is trying to race me I'm sure. he'll bolt off from a stop light, then slow back down to where I am, and drop a gear and fly off again. Over and over again like this just on Monday night when i saw him on McCarran. Ass

A1337STI 2006-03-02 04:11 PM

I rev at cars i like and other subarus at times. when i do it to other subarus while moving, i'm doing it so they can hear my BOV (stock ) ;) i dunno i figure they'de like it. i often wave, but i'm still not used to the tinted windows (why don't they wave back???)

omfg, i saw a Black STI this morning when i turned right onto highway 50 (i was sierra at tahoe bound) and i got to drive next to him for a lil bit. he seemed like he wanted to race, (i just wanted to drive side by side fer a bit) i let him zoom past but he got stuck behind a truck at a light and tucked in behind me . i took off really fast (to make sure i wasn't holding him back too much) and stop at like 4 over the speed limit. lol he shot past me pretty good. someone in a baseball cap i thought.
that anyone here ?? :)

Yeah, I get a kick out of WRX/STi owners popping their blowoff for fun. I'll wave back.

SlickNick112 2006-03-02 11:21 PM

Yeah, poppin' off our "stock" blowoff valve is soooo cool, because you can almost hear it!

 :P

A1337STI 2006-03-02 11:25 PM

I have a K&N short ram air intake . i've seen up to 60 people look at my car at once when i had a loud one (infront of the casinos in tahoe , snowing, several hundred people walking around with skis and snowboard to the gondola, seemed like a good place for some needless noise and attention) lmao lmao ;) ( i was under the speed limit too, just floored 2nd for a second and left off )

At least you have one now.

Maybe I should have gotten plates that say TRBOENV. :D

Make us proud and do a drivetrain swap! :D

The only chance I have of getting that done is dependent on whether I can convince my wife that a $13,000 STi swap is a better idea than just giving her the RS and buying myself an STi. And then, of course, I'd need to have $13,000 lying around.

A1337STI 2006-03-03 10:13 AM

if you did a drivetrain swap with an STI, that means tranny reduction gear and the Center Diff ? (Plus DCCD ) ?
or just the Tranny ?

and btw, yes the stock BOV on the sti is loud enough for people to hear at least 50 yards away. if you are not going through the stock subaru silecner. I've been told you can do a simple (20 minute) mod so that the stock BOV - escapes directly to the atomosphere, instead of back into your air intake system. and that is suppost to really increase the noise from it. i think i like the noise level that i'm at though ... :)

You don't want to do that Man. The ECU expects the blow off to return to the intake and if it doesn't get it, you'll run rich between shifts. It's not a big deal or anything, but it's certainly not ideal. Most BOV's that work fairly well on Subarus are adjustable so you can do half atomospheric and half recirculating or somthing like that. The only mod I'd do to a stock valve is the one that allows it to hold more boost if you upgrade the turbo.

It's tranny, diff, and brakes. I dunno about the DCCD control. It's $8000 for just the motor, but I wouldn't want to have to baby my RS transmission. :P

WRX motor swaps are only $5000, though.

cody 2006-03-03 12:01 PM

STI drivetrain swap into a GC like Kevin's old car or Cory's current car is the only swap that I see as justified.

Here:

I saw a silver STi in Carson heading south on 395 today at about 2:30pm. It kinda looked like NevadaSTi, but I didn't notice in time to get a clear view.

Forgotten 2006-03-06 05:52 PM

Pretty sure I saw U53D today on Wells right before the freeway around 1:30 or so.

Mmmm... turbo... no way dude. I desperately wish it was, and I do have BIG plans for the future, but she's just barely over stock right now for power. All my $ has gone into handling!

There's a blue GC RS running around that somebody just picked up from a used lot a couple weeks ago. Has the paper plates on it still. SUPER clean! Looks like showroom condition from what I've seen!

Anybody know 'em?

Leper Dog 2006-03-07 08:39 AM

Saw a white 06 STi on the side of the road on clearacre at 9 am thursday (march 2nd). Bad news is an RPD moto cop was writing him a ticket :(

That guy should know better, I see those bike cops all the time. Riding in packs even. They pull over a lot of people on El Rancho as well.

Ezdno 2006-03-07 10:47 PM

I saw a nice two door RS2.5 Coupe Sedona Red with the plates Pra4sno, car had some exhaust and aftermarket tires. In the Carls Jr drive thru right in front of me.

M3n2c3 2006-03-08 12:47 AM

cody 2006-03-08 08:09 AM

^^^Good one.

A1337STI 2006-03-15 03:49 PM

few days ago I saw an 04/05 Black STI headed down Khale (off of highway 50 in tahoe) and aparently he has smashed up his fender really good. i think he lives 1 apartment complex down from me . anyone here? (kinda don't think so) he kinda speeds too much i'm thinking of saying something to him (its 25 zone and i see him doing like 40 or 50 all the time) gonna give sti drivers a bad name .

I also saw an 06 Silver STI driving up kingsbury grade (owner of a local taco bell franchise) anyone here ?

A1337STI 2006-03-16 10:30 PM

I saw Ryan4601 parked oustdie of Jimmy Johns earlier today, the car looks so good. It's the first time I've seen it not at a meet, in the day it looks so hot.

dknv 2006-03-21 02:42 PM

Saw Ben B (rather, I heard his car) drive by in the NW Reno Walmart. Haven't seen him in awhile. Was he up in Alaska again for the season?

ScottyS 2006-03-22 12:00 PM

Speaking of AK, saw tons of Subies up in Fairbanks and Anchorage last week. Legacy SS's and TW's, STi's, and the ubiquitous Legacy Outback. Saw only two sets of aftermarket Altezza tails (on Hondas). I think I like that state unconditionally now.
