That's probably the biggest road block with me and that game. I never played the first two so the story isn't there for me to appreciate.

I just bought Mass Effect 2 cuz it was a slick deal but then somebody said I should play ME1 first so I bought that too. By the time I get to ME2, it will be cheaper than what I paid for it. I don't always make the smartest decisions. But it's cool...more motivation to play more video games.

YOU MUST PLAY ME1 FIRST! The story is awesome and you need to play the first one so that you can see how they fixed all the annoying crap for ME2. Honestly ME2 wouldn't be nearly as good without playing the first. I am foaming at the mouth just thinking about ME3. I know it will be the conclusion to the best IMO game trilogy ev4r!

I understand that the game save from the first game effects the story in ME2. Some people don't like that and hide their ME1 game save before playing ME2.

Amazon and Newegg are now showing the 24th as the release date. Amazon is also offering $.99 release day shipping (free if you have Prime) +$10 credit, but I'll stick with my preorder from Newegg for $47.99.

Time to bring Fallout New Vegas back up, while everyone speculates about GT5's release date.

I finally finished the game last night, after playing about 30+ hours. The game definitely starts very slow, but overall I think its better than FO3. The factions are much more interesting and the non-playable characters are more well written. Though, I would say that the setting and environment in FO3 is better, the characters and factions generally are not. FNV also brings back much of the original humor. FO3 made some attempts at the same sense of humor, but overall the atmosphere was more maudlin and not as dynamic. The only major strike against FNV is that the ending is a little anti-climactic. FO3 did a better job at creating an epic ending and FNV didn't come close to matching it.

Overall, I did enjoy FO3 and I played through to the end twice (including a few other characters that didn't make it very far). And to that end, FNV feels more like a proper sequel to FO1/2 than FO3 ever did.

Its hard for me to argue that you should spend more time with it (6 hours should be plenty for most games, but this one needs about 8-10), but I just wanted to add some more thoughts after finishing the game. New Vegas is probably my game of the year. I'll definitely be playing more of it soon.

I agree about needing to be patient with Fallout New Vegas. I rented it after Joel said how much he hated it. I've heard nothing but good things about Fallout 3, so I wanted to see what New Vegas was all about. Since I hadn't played any of them, I just redboxed New Vegas. I played it every chance I could for a week, and I still wanna keep playing it. After the first town, the game gets a lot more interesting. Once I got used to the style and gameplay, I really liked the game. I want to buy it so I can finish it, but I shouldn't buy any new games until the end of the semester to ensure that I graduate.

I played it at GT5 a bit yesterday. I think it's a good game, but not worth that kind of wait.

It's not like GT5 is the only thing Polyphony Digital was working on in that 4 years.

The slim PS3's may be different, but the fatties don't benefit from a 7.2K RPM HDD...it just makes more heat for them. No performance increase as I understand it though. :(

Yes, I got boned because it should have been delivered Friday but we were closed at my work where it was shipped to. But I was out of town anyway so I would have been perfectly happy with getting it Monday. Unfortunately UPS didn't make their daily drop off and everything, including expedited shipments were delayed by one day. It better come today.
