Since when has that ever stopped you?

Chris, looks hot man. It's gonna be crazy in ten years when it runs. haha I dunno about that aftermarket tach though.

Defi aftermarket > OEM for pretty much all gauges.

I'm not doubting it's functionality, it just looks terrible. If you are spending that much money, you might as well take the factory tach out and put the defi in it's place.

Did I miss something? In the video that's exactly what it looks like he did.

Oh I can't watch the video from work.

edit: I watched it, still looks like it's sitting in front of the cluster to me.

murphy 2007-04-24 08:08 AM

it is in front of the cluster. I cut a slit in the cluster plastic to slide the tach. mount back a little. Unlike many people that put tachs in cars I actually need it. The factory one only goes to 7-8k rpm..I need one that will tell me 8500+ rpm. Tons of minor things before we start it..but its getting closer and closer.

any update on this ? im super curious on how its going....

murphy 2007-06-14 01:31 PM

An update. IC piping done, all vac. lines done, exhaust done, new front wheel bearings. Things to be done to start. Finish the battery wiring, wire in a relay for e-fans. Have friend send start map, fill with fluids, prime oil and fuel systems.

MikeK 2007-06-14 01:45 PM

It's getting close!

MPREZIV 2007-06-14 01:57 PM

sweeet... that thing's gonna be awesome!

sti deede 2007-06-14 03:48 PM

So exciting, bet you can't wait to finally get this thing going.

murphy 2007-08-09 08:59 PM

will be attempting to start car friday sometime 8-10-07. After laptop to ecu problem after problem after problem..finally sorted so time to give it a shot. will post new pics of the car soon. Still in some state of disarray but looking better.

cody 2007-08-10 02:37 PM

Nice, hopefully it's been a labor of love and hopefully she starts! :)

murphy 2007-08-20 04:13 PM

NO START need to ditch the aftermarket nology set up and try the stock stuff...coils were getting power but no trigger..and the haltech was reading an rpm signal. BOOOOO oh well

Kevin M 2007-08-20 04:17 PM

Careful, I might get Frankensuby Jr. running before you get godzilla there going!

murphy 2007-10-09 07:41 PM

well a BAD update for you guys....While trying to find why the thing was getting no spark someone (NO NOT ME!!!) put too many amps to the thing. I found the ecu fuze was poped..changed it with new one..and nothing. I check the haltech sensors to see if they are getting power, nothing. Ecu would not communicate with laptop either. So I called a friend of mine that is really good with haltechs tell him what happened and he came to the same conclusion I did..ecu is fried. So a special thanks to my buddy and another buddys fauther...Well at least I know what was causing the coils not to fire...starter was shot and sucking the batt dry.

MikeK 2007-10-09 10:08 PM

That sucks! What is the estimate now for getting it all going?

sperry 2007-10-10 10:04 AM

That sucks. Any chance the folks at Haltech (or maybe the guys you bought it from) would be willing to do a warranty swap on it? You'd think with the fuse blowing it should have been protected from damage... maybe it was the Haltech itself caused the short and blew the fuse?

murphy 2007-10-10 04:22 PM

I would contact the people I bought it from but they closed while I was in Afghanistan owner was tired of the industry. One would think that a fuze would do that but it appears the initial surge of amps and volts arced the fuze..that would explain the electric hummm when they did what they did that and every electrical thing in my car going crazy..boost controller, TT, and defi gages.
With luck haltech can fix it, with more luck the ones who juiced my car will pony up to get it fixed.

murphy 2008-08-27 09:08 PM

HUGE UPDATE!!!!! everything worked out with the ecu...got it back did a few other things...The CAR WAS STARTED TODAY..Need to work on the tps and cas to get it to idle right. I also think that the inj. leads are reversed. IE it using the 1600's on fire up and not the 550's..will be checking that tomarrow. Will keep updated.

sperry 2008-08-27 10:19 PM

Wow great news! I thought youd get sick of it and this thing was going to end up being parted out before it was done. Good to hear it's running!

kidatari 2008-08-27 10:21 PM

Awesome news Murph'!

sti deede 2008-08-27 10:29 PM
