D. Drivetrain and related components (induction, ignition, fuel systems, etc) are unrestricted except for the following limitations:

Maximum engine displacement:

Forced induction -
3.0L (OHC engines)
4.0L (pusrod engines)
Normally aspirated -
6.0L

Besides, I could probably get the engine block rebuilt and stroked into a 347c.i. race engine for near the $3500 price tag of a blower. Usually much better for reliability to stay N/A.

Oh yeah, I forgot the displacement rules are smaller for FI.

Last SCCA event

This was my first time running auto-x. I would love to make this an annual commitment on my part. I ran GS this season with my '99 2.5RS. As a rookie, not knowing any better, what should be my next investment to be able to compete better with you veterans! I've also just started showing up to "Friday night fights" drag racing in Fernley. I just move back home to Reno, from a 7 year hiatus. I spent my last 3 years in Kentucky and need to get into the "LOOP" around here. Let me know who wants to help out this subaru junkie!
Thanks
Nick

Hey Nick, glad to see you made it to the boards. For your first time auto-x'g, you did very well!

Come to the meet this thursday if you can to meet everyone else. :)

MattR 2003-10-14 11:07 AM

No, nick autocrossed a couple times this year, I know from working grid 8) Glad you made it to the boards Nick, theres a pretty good wealth of knowledge here, but if you really want some technical info or sugestions for autocross, visit NASIOC.COM or I-Club.com, theres a lot of good (and crappy) info on both sites. See ya soon

Who's John? :?:

Maybe I am just braindead. Tuesdays suck.

SlickNick112 2003-10-15 05:25 AM

I drive my silver Subaru '99 2.5RS. STIwish, you drive the blue WRX?
As for meeting on Thurday night, What time does everyone meet? I work until 8:30 every night except Friday. I'd love to meet up with you guys. I have rediculous working hours, nothing any sane man would ever put himself through. I work 4am-7:30, go to school 'til 10:00, go back to school at 2:00-3:30. Work my other job 3:30 to 8:30pm Monday-Thursday. I work on Fridays just not as much, and travel for tournaments on weekends. I get lucky most weekends when I get to race. Do you guys do a late night on Friday nights? Saturday nights? Sundays?

Thanks for the insight on what my next investment should be. Scott, how long you been doing this? I respect your advise. I agree, I think tires should be my next move. Take care.

The Thursday night meets are at 7pm.... we're usually hanging out till 9:30 or 10, so if you can come by after you get off work, we'll prolly still be there. However, I can't imagine having the energy to come out after a day like you have! We occationally have weekend meets... since the AutoX season is over, I'm guessing we'll be doing more weekend type stuff.

As far as AutoX... this season in Reno was my 1st complete season, but I've been racing off and on over the last 3 or 4 years. I used to race my Thunderbird a little when I lived in San Luis Obispo, and I did a partial season with American Autocross in Sacramento last year in the WRX (on stock RE92s!)

STIwish 2003-10-15 02:03 PM

Yeah, you were the one that helped me figure out how to launch at Fernley, but yeah, the blue WRX is my ride.

You know, I would have never have helped you out if you weren't driving a Subaru!

STIwish 2003-10-16 01:52 PM

LOL! We'll have to race again on the 24th, I owe you some ass kickings ;) I honestly do drag race a lot from a light, but having to launch uphill like that is something ive never done... flat is my friend.

SlickNick112 2003-10-16 02:42 PM

yah, I know you do owe me. Now it doesn't seem fare racing against a turbo. Oh well, I'll take my chances. It's all for fun anyway. Where do you live?

STIwish 2003-10-16 03:00 PM

Bishop, California.. its a good 3 hours away from Reno. Hehe, next time I'll be riding 1 or 2 up (no 3-up) and hopefully will be in much better form. I drive up there pretty much exclusively to chill with these guys, and write some of the trips off as business trips

SlickNick112 2003-10-17 04:19 AM

Thats the only way to go! I've been to Bishop before, I know where it's at. Well I've always got someone with me, but I'm not sure it's got much to do with winning or losing. It's all for fun with us anyway. Take care
