Irregardless, he's got it right for all intensive purposes.

Glad I clicked page 2 before replying to that post with this exact phrase.

So I installed 3 and it seems faster. I like it.

Nick Koan 2008-06-24 04:18 PM

Has a better memory footprint too.

And I'm not just making it up. This webpage has graphs to prove it.

I dunno about that... I'm using 241MB of RAM and 381MB of swap space right now to have 8 tabs open.

tysonK 2008-06-24 04:25 PM

My little notebook usually runs out of gas around 5 tabs of media heavy or whatever sites.

Dude, its on the internet, and it has graphs. I don't know how much more true it can be.

On a purely anecdotal level, for me its using less memory on average every time I take a gander at it. I used to run around 150-180 or so in FF2. FF3 uses about 120 or so on average. Also, I haven't noticed a need to restart Firefox as much as I used to. Also, I use FF differently and open and close tabs all day long, rather than keeping a static set open for fun.

It's been running a lot faster on mine I'm just not all that sure it's using dramatically less memory.
