I have no reason to believe they would change what they have been doing for the last 8 years, which is completely redesigning the car every 2 years. I certainly hope that this model (08-09) isn't the one they decide they'll keep around for a while. We can see just how much the public likes this car by how "rare" it is. The Evo X has a bigger price tag than it's previous itineration, and I see almost one a day. You can call the STI rare all day, but the truth is most people don't like it. Perhaps this small redesign on the 09 Rex comes from the unpopularity of the 08 STI.

*Pulls out shit-umbrella-ella-ella*

The Impreza has only been "completely redesigned" twice... in '02 and in '08. All the other updates every two years were minor face lifts... basically just a changing of the headlights/grill.

I would expect a similar minor update to the Impreza in 2010. There were rumors that in 2010 the Impreza will be larger and a new smaller car will turn up... and that line would be the platform for the STi and the rally car... but with the hatchback Impreza redesign, I bet it sticks around with only minor updates until 2014 or so.

The WRX engine update for '09 is directly due to the power of the new Ralliart Lancer and the Masdaspeed3. The STi sales are down because the car costs $40k, which isn't an issue as long as the new WRX sells well enough to make up for the lower STi sales.

MSRP on Evo X MR's are $38K and like I said, I see them almost every day. Ok maybe not MR's every day, but certainly Evo X's for sure. I have seen 5 STI's, not including the 5 or 6 that Lithia has (finally...).

I'm really interested in the difference in sales numbers for the two cars. BRB gotta go googling. Well apparently I suck at internetting. Haven't found anything yet.

Edit: In retrospect, one Evo X a day is an exaggeration. It's more like on average, one a week.

Give up Jonny... The all knowing Oracle of SECCS has spoken and all others before him shall bow down to his beliefs.

I knew I was dead when Alex agreed with me. That is not a dis of Alex, more a reassurance that the Oracle will never admit the errors in his theories or whatever you call his ramblings.

The Oracle believes the only competition for the STI is the WRX and then claims the WRX has the Ralliart and Mazdaspeed 3 as competition. Venn diagrams be damned much less involving the Evo...

Heck, the LGT, the A3 and R32 are STI competitors as well as the Evo, but not in the Oracle's world.

haha i just got a 09 wrx sedan for my first car

not too fond of the difference in the body as compared to a bugeye but the actual driving of the car is really good. plus it takes off the line like a beast, at least it seems like it to me cause i have only driven one other really fast car and thats my friends mazdaspeed3 with a bigger turbo and CAI

1. We don't have meetings

2. How and why do you have a car you can't drive?

cody 2008-12-10 03:29 PM

1. What do you think "meet" is short for?

2. Permit?

100_Percent_Juice 2008-12-10 06:04 PM

Jonny should be going to meetings. Thats a whole other issue though.

Actually... this is a months old thread that was just recently bumped, and it's why Dean is now on my ignore list. The perpetual arguing was tiring, and got personal via PMs, so I'm no longer taking the bait.

van 2008-12-10 09:26 PM

Love

subierex09 2008-12-10 09:29 PM

What's wrong with bumping semi old threads? This place isn't terribly exciting.

ScottyS 2008-12-11 02:17 PM

Hey, ya gotta admit for a car club we are waaaay mellow on the drama side.

Nothing, in fact bumping an existing thread is better than restarting a topic.

I was just pointing out to Nick that hopefully things aren't status quo around here with the Scott/Dean bickering.

JonnydaJibba 2008-12-11 02:24 PM

I thought it was funny but I didn't know it went farther than a joke.
