It's hilarious. I'm on coils. I'm low. I've tackled the rear fenders on the STi to run a 245 on an 8" rim that was a ET35, lol - it's a PITA. I die laughing every time I see one of these morons claiming he doesn't rub with a 255 on a 10" ET18 wheel that's .1" away from the fender. None of these morons have any clue how a Mac strut camber curve works.......watching (and hearing) them drive away is fucking hilarious.:lol:

You need a co-driver for the first event? ;) My car will not be done. We could work on setup, not that I would not help you anyway. Not sure the red rear pads are going to work though. That should be a lower CF on the end of the car that already has a bias that is considered low. |

Is the master cylinder brace legal in SM? I know it's not (or wasn't when I checked) in SP. Sucks cuz my brake pedal has never been nice and stiff like it is on the GF's Mazda 3. What's HRP? |
Dean,
the reds suck they are already on the car, they are way way to noisy. I am going to try to replace them with yellows. I am going to school (sacramento) in a month. I dont know if Ill be around for the first event, if I am then we can co-drive Kevin, yes I am keeping her Cody, I just read the whole section in sm, and could not find anything that said anything about MC brace. HRP (hoerr racing products) is a online racing supply, I won a giftcard in the in the renoscca awards banquet |

Reds are less aggressive than yellows... by a lot... they're supposed to be greens for heavy street cars. So he is running a lower CF in the rear. But I would think you want to run a higher CF on the end that's got low bias, since that would shift the bias towards more even. |
Quote:
Dean: Reds have low CF in the rear which is already not braking as much as the front due to the bias. You want yellows back there. Scott: You want a higher CF on the end that's got low bias. You want yellows back there. |

Dean said "That should be a lower CF on the end of the car that already has a bias that is considered low" which is exactly opposite from what I just said, "I would think you want to run a higher CF on the end that's got low bias". |
I think the issue lies in your inerpretation of the word, "should". He's using it to express a small amount of doubt, not "that ought to be...".
I took the quote to mean, "That is probably a lower CF on the end of the car that already has a bias that is considered low." (not good) |

Drop some Porterfield R4 pads on the back. you'll have way more rear bias in your braking.
Any thoughts on the Kumho Ecsta XS and Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 Versus the Star Specs? anyone else look at the tire rack reviews? Since the hill climb requires 100 treadwear i'm giving up on my idea of doing 710s |
TR likes the Yokos a lot. XS are just the tiniest notch behind the Dunlops from what I can see, in terms of grip. Personally, if I were buying tires again this year I'd pick between the RE11s and the StarSpecs.
|
Interesting, did you note how on the TR tests the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 were fastest on every test and at the same price point of the RE-11? (actually $10 less a tire)
i've just trying to decide between the Yok and the Star Spec and i recall Dean or Debbie mentioning that Heavier cars in STU preferred the Yok (but this was a few years ago) you looking at other data in conjunction of the TR test? |
Not unless you count Luke's stickies on Nasioc. I would just skip the Yoks because they're so annoying on the street. Really noisy and bad in the rain.

oh this one ? : http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1753562
or this thread :http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1768388 Default AD08 v. RE11 v. Ecsta XS v. Star Spec ... The Ultimate Street Tire Shootout I just completed testing the RE11, AD08, Z1 Star Spec and the Ecsta XS and I would give the overall win to the RE11 due to it's superior road manners but the Yokohama was slightly faster on our test track. The Dunlop has met it's match in ultimate performance. Perfect. I'm only concerned with ultimate autoX / hill climb performance and i'm willing to trade everything else for that. :D so AD08 if budget allows, else the star spec :) |

Silvio what are you going to run for tires ?

Im running my 94 sentra xe with R888's running in FSP. I really like those on my STI but have heard many good things about the star spec and am considering a set to try out. Car and driver had a review on the Star spec and the Ecsta xs and they pretty much stated that the dry handling of the XS was better in the autocross than the Star spec but that in any kind of wet the XS completely broke down and was totally unpredictable. So the star spec got the higher over all score. That issue was about three months ago.

I personally trust TireRack and GRM over C&D. But that's just me maybe.

Subframe mount bushings may be replaced, but must attach in the factory location(s) without additional modification or changes. Sub- frame position may not be changed. The amount of metal in a re- placement bushing may not be increased relative to the amount of metal found in a standard bushing for the particular application. Solid metal bushings are specifically prohibited. Longitudinal (fore-aft) subframe connectors (SFCs) are permitted with the following restrictions: 1. They must only connect previously unconnected boxed frame rails on unibody vehicles. 2. Each SFC must attach at no more than three points on the uni- body (e.g. front, rear, and one point in between such as a seat mount brace or rocker box brace). 3. SFCs must be bolted or welded, but welding must be to the OE subframe stampings, not to the floor pan in between. 4. No cutting of OE subframes or floorpan stampings is permitted. Drilling is permitted for mounting bolts only. 5. No cross-car/lateral/triangulated connections directly between the driver’s side and passenger’s side SFCs are permitted. Connec- tions to OE components such as tunnel braces or closure panels via bolts are allowed and count as the third point of attachment. No alteration to the OE components is permitted. 6. SFCs may not be used to attach other components (including but not limited to torque arm front mounts or driveshaft loops) and may serve no other purpose. |

Bolts are not legal in SM. I have a set sitting on my shelf I am going to use for track days.
Everything else is good I think. There was something about the brake bracket, but maybe that was for SP. |
