They did make a TSI that was front wheel drive. To be all wheel drive it had to be a TSI AWD.

I think it was like this:

Talon ES = GS
Talon TSI = GST
Talon TSI AWD = GSX

TSi doesn't mean awd, some are FWD.

Yeah, there were 4 versions in '97/'98: DL, ESi, TSi, and TSi AWD.

And there was no Talon that matched the base Eclipse, since the Talon was the "upscale" brand for that car.

Should I be scared that you know that much about THOSE cars? That's like:

"Yeah, I used to be an F150 driver until I decided I needed the 8-lug wheels. Then, in '93 they released the shortbed single cab F350 with a diesel, so I traded my 3/4-ton in for that. Want some Cope?"

Silly Fords...

(On peavine Monday) My friend got a little over-zealous in his powerstroke.

tysonK 2006-01-03 03:04 PM

is that on titan forums yet?

No...I couldn't get him unstuck  That POS weighs 9,000 lbs, and it's sitting on it's front axle in frozen heavy mud. Another Powerstoroke came along and couldn't get it out either...So a real tow truck is trying to get it right now.

Apparently I *don't* know that much about the cars, since I was wrong in assuming the TSi was only the Eagle version of the GSX, not both the GST and GSX.

Also, I only know only a little about those things mechanically. I know they can be made into beasts, but they're quite finicky. Also, I know that most the people that have them have the crappy N/A FWD cars, yet think they're like 2 times fasterer and like 6 times more furiouserer than Brian Spilner.

Damn that was funny! They were one of the coolest cars of their time. My buddy Dennis let me drive his, it was the TSI AWD and it was damn fast.

It doesn't matter that you couldn't pull it out, that picture would be a hot commodity to Taylor and the crew down at Nissan. Thats classic Nissan swagger.

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-04 11:21 AM

Tim do you have any pictures of my car? I can't get mine off of my camera because I have no computer to upload them too! Unless somebody has Kodak software...

Libila 2006-01-04 12:03 PM

Nope. I don't have Kodak software anymore.

cody 2006-01-04 12:13 PM

Does this help?

http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQueri...q-locale=en_US

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-04 01:00 PM

No, I don't have a computer to put the pictures on. My pc at home is broken.

Ezdno 2006-01-04 07:00 PM

Is it a direct link from Cam to Computer via usb or do you have a flash card in the cam.

I have a card reader at work, and one of the printers has card readers as well.

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-05 07:30 AM

USB.

Ezdno 2006-01-05 08:57 AM

If you can bring me the camera, I can get them off for ya. Oh wait, do you have the usb cable that goes with the cam?

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-05 09:17 AM

I pm'd you sir.

Heh. Like a friend I had back east.. Rolled his Bugeye WRX in the snow, fries the clutch all the time, hit 3 kids with it, etc..

I'm trying to save that car, really, I am..

And Alex, if you're reading this, I told you not to do that shit, so don't be surprised that I gossip about how you do it anyway - you treat your car like crap, man.

cody 2006-01-06 10:45 AM

3 kids??? Holy shit.

And JC, what's all that? You calling me a tool or saying I'm screwed, or what..?

I know it's a Phillips head, but..

Agh.

cody 2006-01-06 04:35 PM

Maybe he wants you to use a scredriver to punch holes in your exhaust.

I spent a week over Xmas putting about 1100 miles on the new motor around the Bay Area. Then I dropped it back off at Gruppe-S. All I need are the headers, BigMAF intake, turbo heat shield, and tuning, and it's done!

Depending on shipping for the BigMAF, I may have the car as soon as next weekend. :)

Yeah: 2.5L STI shortblock, ported and polished WRX heads, GT30-10 turbo (a little small for this application... think of it as a stock STI turbo that spools a little faster due to the dual ball bearings), 800cc injectors, TGV deletes, BigMAF short ram intake, Perrin FMIC.

The car should be a beast, even with the undersized turbo. In fact the smaller turbo may be an advantage in autocross, but I'm pretty sure anyone with a GT30-11 or -12, or any of the TD06-20G and FPGreen guys will kill me on track and the 1/4.

That reminds me, I need to call the shop and see how the compression/leakdown tests went.

sp00ln 2006-01-09 05:28 PM

Should have went Gt35 with nitrous... :p

JK, that sounds like a sweet setup.

Even though I know you're kidding: Both the GT35 and the nitrous would be counter-productive on a car that's still autocrossed regularly... too much lag on that turbo, and nitrous is illegal in all SCCA classes.

But a rotated GT35R + N2O would be one hell of a drag setup. There's a couple of drag-tards over on I-Club working along those lines.

cody 2006-01-09 07:34 PM

What does rotated mean?

Rotated means it isn't a 'bolt on' and is rotated a bit from the normal mounting points. As far as I know, the only way to fit a GT35 into a Subaru is by rotating it. It won't fit in a 'bolt on' application

cody 2006-01-09 08:39 PM

Yeah. Ever think of a BIG 16g or a 18g? BIG 16gs spool at like 3200rpm and can make up to 350+awhp. Im sure that with your 2.5l engine, itll spool in the sub 3ks.
